For the most part, kailangan magaling kang mag-poste -- in the pocket, tasty, and "greasy". Pero marami rin na magagaling na bahista marunong kumapa ng variations at licks para hindi mag "stagnate" yung groove.

Suggested listening:

Old school Classical style:
Willie Dixon (Himself, Muddy Waters, etc.)

Old School R&B:
James Jamerson (Funk Bros., orig. Motown Artists)
Bob Babbit (Funk Bros., orig. Motown Artists)

Newer School Classical Style:
Tommy Shannon (SRV)
Willie Weeks (Blues Bros., etc.)
Donald "Duck" Dunn (Booker T. & the MG's, Blues Bros.)
Berry Oakley or Allen Woody (Allman Bros.)

Modern Blues:
Roscoe Beck (Robben Ford)
Oteil Burbridge (Allman Bros.)
Nathan East (Eric Clapton)

usually walking bass, pero i'd suggest listening to jack bruce's basslines... galing! he can really cover much space with his lines kaya hindi sila nabubutas sa cream. :)
