...... LP cannot duplicate a strat sound...... strat cannot duplicate a LP sound.

strat wars....so akala ko between strats or strat type guitars. suhr, squire, fernandes, esp, ibby, hondai, yamaha....oh yes fender pa pala!les paul vs strat pala bro e.
Joric Im not testing anyone I just want to know what people think. Ive been quite annoyed by friends of mine who's been persuading me to get a les paul coz they think it sounds better. Its good to know that people in this community are mature enough to think of these two guitars as equals aunlike those idiotic friends of mine L.O.L. d nga?mas attached ako sa strats talaga....pero d ko lalaitin ang naka les paul.the only reason why i would never buy a les paul is because i can't afford it.
I have to disagree with that... Though what you said is true to a degree, One can easily cop out descent les paul type sounds on a strat. I have done this countless times on numerous recording sessions.

You are right. Your friends are right. Anyone who has an opinion on what's best to their ears is right. You think your friends are idiots for disagreeing with you. Your friends prolly think you are an idiot too, and might not want to be friends anymore when you call them idiots. Idiots can have opinions too. We all have opinions. Therefore we are all -- at one time or another -- idiots.

clean or dirty? Can I hear it? Link?

I have done this countless times on numerous recording sessions. On the other hand a les paul can never pull off that in between strat spank... Though I firmly believe that if you want a specific sound you'd have to go out and get the real thing coz nothing beats the real thing. My take on this is neither one nor the other is better both have great qualities. But the strat has a wider sonic palette than the les paul.
We were able to make a Burny Les Paul sound like a strat, complete with "quack". Just PM microchimp to confirm . You could also ask Bluebuddha and Dopedeeva how one of the Blue Rat's Epiphone Gold Top LP's got its character transformed
