I am planning to own one, but what I want is an Epiphone, the oldschool epi SG with a headstock similar to that of a Gibson. Anyone who knows where I can buy one and how much cash should I shed?

your best bet is the Epiphone Elitist 61 SG, unfortunately discountinued na sya.. so look for them at Ebay.

I tried a friend's Standard and I liked it. Should have gotten the sunburst when it was available. :)

I love the SG! Always liked the looks of it compared to an LP.
If youre into relatively thick '59ish necks, the Gibby SG Standard is the way to go. But the full-on batman pickguard is a turnoff, IMO.
If you like thin necks, try out the Gibby '61 reissue, nice and thin. And you get the classic half batman pickguard too. Bought one last week, body lift/neck dive was too much for me.
Returned it and got an LP Standard instead

I love SGs... because of Wilco and Paul Welller.... I still have to own one though.

My dream SG is the 61 version with the tremolo....

this. and judging by the offset guitars and teles you have, i saw this coming. haha.
since you guys in the US have access to cases and racks, i think the Gibby headstock nightmare won't be much of a problem. and if i may ad, SGs have weird strap button configuration, which i think you would get used to after a cuple of sessions. also, Clapton used an SG for Cream. haha.

Used to have 1, sold it last year here for cheap. It was an SG Standard in Ebony. And it was my first Gibson.

Loved it, sounded great on gigs. Most of all it makes you look really gwapo! :-)

It really screams rock!

But, I need money to pay for bills and the SG was the quickest to sell.

....And i am the happy not so new owner of this Gib SG!thanks sir orangeogre!!  An SG is like a Sonny Jaworski or Barangay Ginebra, You either love it or hate it... an I really love my SG!! :-D
