Minsan pag sobrang sikat na wala na talagang pakialam sa music. Parang pagdating sa live parang chopsuey na chopsuey yung performance? anong pananaw niyo dito? May napanood ako dati pero di ko sasabihin kong anong banda yun, ang genre nila ay alternative tapos biglang nag-growl yung vocalist.. labo.

hehehehe thats why we pay good money for recording studios and hire producers/engineers with great ears.



studio magic and smart editing can make crappy bands sound decent, and decent bands sound awesome.

pero syempre it does not apply all the time.

recording is still Garbage In-Garbage Out most of the time.

^Really? I'm not famous in any way and am no way a good musician so i could not understand that fans thing but musicians, and artists in general, should always push their limits, di ba? Kung trabaho nila ang pagiging musikero, i'd understand that; mahirap talaga mawalan ng fans. But as serious musicians, and artists, ang babaw kung fans mo iisipin mo instead of your craft. Napaka-poser nun. Just my opinion.

tama sir. yun nga eh. the point of playing is lost when you put it in the "fans" perspective trying to please their ears.

hard truth is hindi kasi tulad sa 1st world country mga music listeners dito sa atin na miski hindi na lumalabas sa TV o radio yung banda suporta padin sila....

majority talaga sa mga pinoy hook up lang at steady sa kung ano lang yung pinakakawalaan sa airwaves...

at siyempre coorporate evil na naman ang eepal sa mga artist.. they dont care about the music that is genuine and by the heart...

they need  music that will be more palattable to class c and d people.. kaya yung ibang mga artist sumusunod na sa trend.. d lahat.. pero majority.. andun ang pera eh..  yung iba nga tamang newskool metal biglang nag emo.. ok mag experiment and explore new horizon.. pero talagang mukha silang

nakapanood na rin ako ng band na ganito. gulat ako kala ko cover lang kasi bigla ng growl e pero sila na pala talaga yun. sikat na rin sila in a way lalo na siguro sa mga chiks....hehe
pero i still listen to them, gusto ko yung karamihan s kanta nila at lyrics actually

ang view ko lang dito is baka they think bagay yung ginawa nilang adlibs pero di naman, malas lang mali yun napili nyang adlib. hehe

isn't this the whole point of MUSIC BUSINESS? Music part will concern the art. Business part will concern the profitability and its appeal to a certain market. Like kung talagang solid ka lang sa sining mo, at wala kang pakialam sa sasabihin ng iba, fans or critics, malabo magkaka audience ka, which means malabong mabebenta mo ang ginawa mo, ergo malabo kang kumita. Hindi ka na pwedeng mag mainstream kung ganon.

Pero kung ang napanood nating banda ay mainstream or kahit sikat, asahan mo, $$$ muna bago music.

IMHO, music is both art and business. It should have the balance of both. You can not be called a musician if nobody listens to you. You can not also be called a musician if you can not push the limit of your craft. A good sample of this "balance" is John Mayer, just to illustrate my point.

anyway, i hate that SC band. hahaha. i find them posers. no offense meant sa mga fans. just my opinion.

It's funny to read someone slag a band, and then put up the peace signs. Just say it like it is, and accept that people will hate you for it. Have more respect for your own opinions!

I don't like John Mayer that much - I find that while he is very talented, he still isn't stretching it enough. I would more consider Peter Gabriel (during the So and Us period, especially, the time of "Sledgehammer") as a good example of art and commercialism, as well as Sting circa Nothing like the Sun and Ten Summoner's Tales (the latter of which I think is a good example of commercial and artistic success, overall).

Of course, John Mayer can play circles around them on the guitar, and probably looks better. There's that for him. But his songwriting and general level of overall talent? He could do better.

I would like to note, however, that I find his cover of "Bold as Love" to be impressive, as well as "Who did you think I was" (I hope i got the title right).
