mention ko na rin yun 2 amps na nagagamit ko sa fave studio ko sa Parañaque, namely the Peavey Triple X at Fender Stage. they take pedals very well, lalo na yun triple X.

Big Solid State Fenders + Crunchbox = WIN.

in my case, the shredhead, which is a crunchbox clone, gives me the orgasmic crunch galore.  :-D epic win indeed!

Since we all know how much important amps are in the signal (perhaps 80% of your tone relies on this), I decided to put this thread as a guide which users can post which amps they feel are worth buying.

Some people have gone through the journey of buying and selling amps. We can help the other Philmusic users in their investments by at least telling our experience of which amps are good as stand-alone or to be used as a pedal platform.

We can segregate it according how they will be used (with pedals or stand-alone). For me, amps that are worth buying are:

Those looking for pedal-friendly amps:

Vox Pathfinder 15r (solid-state)
Laney LX35R (solid-state)
Mesa Boogie F-series (all-tube)
Peavey Bandit (solid-state)
ZT Lunchbox (solid-state)
ZT Club 12 (solid-state)
Kustom Defender (all-tube)
Krank Rev. Jr (all-tube)

Those looking for stand-alone amps i.e. you will be using their dirt channel:

Mesa Boogie F-series (all-tube)
Vox Valvetronix amps (hybrid)
Line 6 Flextone III (digital)
Line 6 Spider IV (digital)
Krank Rev. Jr (all-tube)
Mesa Boogie DC series (all-tube)

What are yours?  :-)

A lot of Fenders are very very pedal friendly, the ones I've tried and did well for me were:
1. Twin Reverb (be it silverface or blackface, it doesn't matter. As long as everything is in perfect condition, panalo!)
2. Deluxe Reverb (ditto)
3. Tweed Bassman (not to be confused with the modern bass guitar only bassman. I am referring to the late '50s version and its reissues, the tone especially with just a strat, an overdrive or distortion and a wah is so syrupy, malapot pero lumulusot - OY NO PUN INTENDED!)
4. Stage 160 (isa pa to na talagang live performance friendly. On some clubs that have this, I don't even have to go to three on the volume to be properly heard onstage.)
5. Princeton Reverb (the solid state version, very very good sounding on rehearsals.)

Other amps worth mentioning na pedal friendly:
1. Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus
2. VOX Pathfinder 15R
3. Peavey Classic 30
4. VOX AC-30 (but this depends on the player, some have a hard time dealing with the amp's idiosyncracies.)
5. Marshall Valvestate combos (the 50-100 watt early to 2nd generation issues were very good and great for showband guitarists)
6. Line 6 -- this 2X12 thingy.....I don't exactly remember, I used it on a gig a few years ago.

May nakapag-try na ba ng Kustom Contender sa inyo?
Don't become obsessed with sounding like one particular player and sounding exactly like him.

Tama yan chong, lalo na ang deluxe reverb, mapa small gigs na tugtugan or bigger ang sarap nito sa mga pedals. Yung twin reverb hindi ko masyadong gusto pag small gigs lang.

I agree BUT Rather I think it's more accurate to say that most of the pedals being made nowadays are tweaked to sound great with Fenders. Case in point: Fulltones, MI Audio, Menatone, etc.

BTW dagdag pa sa list ko: Laney LC50 II. This thing has balls bigger than Mesa Triple Recs IMO.

Laney Cub10

Bang for the Buck!!!

Cheapo tube amp.  And pedal friendly.

Bedroom use and small church gig use no problem.

also, yung recently acquired ko na Stagg GA 60R. panalo na rin. not that satisfactory as compared to branded SS amps. but for the price, that's kinda good buy na rin. pedal friendly and loud for those nagtitipid musicians who are looking for ateleast 50watt SS amps.

uu mga bro, meron din ako nito, panalo talaga itong STAGG GA60, sa wakas meron din palang nakabili at naka appreciate sa mura at ok na amp... try nyo an lakas neto at panalo sa pedal and built in 2nd channel distortion swabe ang tunog...  :-D

That's interesting! What made pedal manufacturers think that Fenders should be THE reference amp?

You've never tried a Blackface Bassman before? You should.

edit: That seems to be the consensus, at least among Americans: When you say "Clean", it's usually "Fender" clean (not "Vox" clean). And Fenders had a LOT of huge clean amps in their catalog (Twin Reverb, Super Reverb, Bassman, Dual Showman, Vibro King, etc, etc). Nothing but miles of sparkling clean tone and lots of headroom. And guitarists and session musicians wanted that versatility: Rather than bring two amps everytime (1 amp for cleans, 1 amp for medium-high gain), the solution was to bring a Fender, and juice it up with a dirt pedal.
