o db, gaya ni ms gretchen b, nadinig na ba natin sya nagbanda or naging vocalist sa isang banda? hinde.  ayon sa circle, sold-out na daw ang CDs nya. :-)

GOD, I LOVE THE LOCAL RECORDING INDUSTRY!!!!

ano ba nauna?

the only reason "it sells" is coz its the only thing rammed down people's throats so much that people have no choice but to like 'em... not just covers but backwards pop music in general.

if all the labels took risks and tried to elevate the minds of the masses, we could end up like japan or someday, the US, where diversity and open-mindedness cultivated markets for all kinds of art and music.

but no, the labels can't risk that. its still a business and they have families to feed. reality check for the idealistic.

reality check... ganun n yta tlaga dito s atin.

Talaga namang magaganda ang mga lumang kanta.  :-)

totoo nga't mas magaganda ang mga kanta dati, IMHO, may it be from my parents' time or from my high school and college days.

but that's why we've been stuck on revival mode ever since the mid-'90s.  because we pinoys are a nostalgic and romantic people, though kadalasan ay over naman sa pagiging nostalgic/romantic...

Pinoy's cant think for themselves.

a bit uncalled for coming from a fellow noypi (same with 99% or so of PM), medyo generalization nga yung pinost mo, IMHO.  but kudos for calling things as you see 'em.

a better way of putting it would be that we pinoys need to be more proactive as music lovers and/or musicians - show more initiative to create your own rather than tap the audience's nostalgic nerve by doing yet another revival.

It's better to light a candle than curse the darkness, as the old saying goes.

Naysaying benefits no one.

We all know MYMP kinda, well... sucks. And most of us can do a better job. So let's all just do a better job.

Sayang ang bandwidth, eh.  :-)

------

I remember noong 90's nang naging masigla ang band scene. Andaming naging alternative/{insert genre here} artist. Yun ang mga naging mainstream. Maraming mga 'magagaling' ang lalong 'lumalim' ang taste just to differentiate themselves from the masses.

ngunit ayaw mo namang sumama

------

And if we think that our preferences/music is better than what the masses/jologs/squatters enjoy, then show it! Why not organize free concerts/gigs for the masses and show 'em what you think is better :)

Peace!

covers are done everywhere..but originals should be the centerfold of every musician..you need to have a song that has YOU written all over it..but we should respect what other musicians bring to the table...peace and love   rock and roll lang mga tsong :-D

i heard MYMP's newest single, Now. ok naman, catchy. for sure magiging hit to sa masa. though i dont dig revivals too much. for me it should be an original song should always be what you must write. personality/identity yun ng artist eh.

that is one of the reasons why 6Underground was created, to bring original works front and center. Let's support our "own troops".
