Nakisabay lang ako sir sa drummer namin noong umorder siya ng sticks sa musiciansfriend online. May US address kasi sila. Doon pinadala yung mga items tapos dinala na lang ng utol niya noong umuwi dito sa pinas.

H-S-H
chopper for the middle pickup position.
Bryan suggested me to put a push-pull potentiometer
so i can use the chopper as single or single humbucker.

between Air Norton and PAF Pro, which pup can deliver a twangy sound sa neck position, regardless kung anong wood ng gitara?

Had both... Parang hindi sila twangy parehas - at least in my settings.

I don't know the bodies of my guitars but I think my Petrucci is basswood. It has the Air Norton. Win.

I like the AN better than the PAF Pro for my playing style and high gain. Mas okay output for my purposes and the way it takes up gain is much better. Your mileage and others may vary.

hmm... you got me thinking there. the PAF Pro was winning over the AN before you posted that. hehe!

thanks for the input!

i agree with this.. heard cayle play his RG321 with the Air Norton sa neck.. not twangy.. more of full sounding humbucker.. not that crisp din..

i definitely agree with this.. i heard cayle play (wala siya ngayon kaya ako nalang nagcocomment sa pup niya)..

he has a tonezone sa bridge, air norton sa neck.. grabe.. i was surprised, you can actually play heavily distorted riffs on the Air Norton and it's not that too muddy sounding.. it takes it up really well..

PAF Pro naman. anyone who wants to comment about its tonal characteristics?

you're welcome bro..

PAF PRO, syempre PAF-ish siya, so it's a balanced pickup.. halos gitna lang ang bass, mid, treble niyan.. ganun ang characteristics ng PAF..
they respond to what position they are in.. i'm going for something a bit PAF din sa neck, but not a PAF PRO.. although gusto ko yan dati, inayawan ko kasi hindi ko natripan yung pole pieces niya.. gusto ko screw, not hex.. anyway..

PAF pickups have that good warmth.. pag nag coil split ka sa kanila, you won't have that full crisp twang, but rather a thin and kinda trebly tone.. ayun..

if you're looking for a crisp clean sound sa neck pickup, you should try the Ibanez V1.. stock sa mga 90s na 550 at S series.. they're really crispy.. you can get that twang from them, as i've heard from cayle's guitar before.. imagine, mahogany body pero crisp ang neck tone..  :-)

actually, ang hinahanap ko talaga sa neck PU ay yung kayang maging glassy or twangy ang tone kapag nakaroll-down yun volume during hi gain. tapos same characteristics na sa AN kapag max vol with hi gain dirt. any idea which pup can deliver those characteristics?

been using PAF pros for a number of years...

made me think for another upgrade...

or maybe a new guitar with the Norton   :-D
