i just bought a MIJ Jackson DX10D-BK 2 weeks ago. galing ng craftsmanship. and the tone, it came with duncan designed HB103N/B buckers. Im not really an expert when it comes to tone but these stock pups are performing well to my standards. When i got the guitar, medyo tilted ang trem nya so i had to adjust the springs at the back. that explains why medyo mataas ang action nya nung nasa shop pa sya.

DK2 lang, yung nka dispaly sa perfect pitch. Ung 5th position Neck Pickup lng di ko ma-edit ung una kong naipost na may nkalagay na sustaniac :-D

MIJ na yung Jackson with SD pups... though medyo hindi na ko sanay sa neck niya cause I've been using Ibanez for quite sometime now kaya medyo natatabaan ako. :)

I tested it on PP makati and felt na mas sulit ito compared to PRS SE because of the price..
Mismo bro! yan din ginawa ko. Nagtest ako ng mga PRS sa JB nung Dec 30 muntik ko na nga ring bilhin kaso ayaw nila palitan ung strings na medyo luma na. Yaw ko nga maglabas ng ganung kalaking pera tapos pangit pa ung strings. Naisip ko rin na mag ibby RG350DX kaso sarado audiophile eh ayaw kong matapos ung taon ng walang regalo sa sarili ko hehe. Tamang tama nadaan ako sa PP alimall nung Dec 31 la naman akong balak bumili pero pinatry nila saken ung DK2 and ikinabit pa nila sa MD-2, which is good customer service by the way! After an hour of playing, nagamay ko rin ung guitar and MIJ pa xa so binili ko na tutal nagiisa na lang xa nun. Black sana gusto ko kasi mas mura ng 1k kaso la na silang stock. But no worries, I love my amber sunburst dinky!

have you tried a Jackson yet? what did you think of it?
the answer to your question above will vary depending on who you ask and (cliche) only you can tell what is better.
I personaly like Jacksons, not particularly because its better than say Ibanezs, I just like them.

depende anong model ng Jackson. may lower end models sila. maski yung ibang Japan models nila di maganda craftsmanship. yung 7string Rhoads ko dati 7string version ng RR3. walang headstock/neck binding tapos duncan designed lang ang pickups. nakalimutan ko lang kung san site ko nabasa yung sa specs ng Jackson guitars. kapag mahanap ko post ko dito ulit.
Ganyan nga nababasa ko about the MIJ Jacksons... :-(
Ung ESP & Ibanez kasi pag MIJ, iba tlaga quality although syempre may mga sablay minsan. But still the general perception is they are good. Sa mga nababasa ko, si Ed Roman pa lang ata nabasa kong nagsabi na Jackson MIJs are better than ESP & Ibanez MIJ...(E para sa akin ala naman credibility un. Basta salesman/store owner lang ang nagsasabi ng review ala akong tiwala e :-D)
Kaya naghahanap pako mga matinong reviews about MIJ Jacksons... 8-)

My Jackson DK2 Transparent Red, changed the Seymour Duncan JB to a DiMarzio X2N in the bridge and replaced the Seymour Duncan STK-1 to a Seymour Duncan Hotrails in the neck position.

No idea when and where it was made. Serial# 9412299 at the neck plate.
I saw "JRR-1" at the neck butt when I disassembled it.
The neck profile is the best feature which is similar to my Ibanez RG560.
Ang nipis!
Hope somebody can provide some info on it.

No idea when and where it was made. Serial# 9412299 at the neck plate.
I saw "JRR-1" at the neck butt when I disassembled it.
The neck profile is the best feature which is similar to my Ibanez RG560.

Jackson is for metal primarily. So put it where it belongs. Sure an RG is versatile, but Basswood is sometimes dead compared to alder. A cheap RG vs a Japanese Jackson? Draw IMO. Even a Professional era Jackson can give a Jap RG a run for its money back in 1990. If Professional pre fender era Jacksons were able to steal the cash from the US Jackson line, I bet it can go head to head with the best Rgs in that era. How much more today? Ang ganda na ng gawa ng Japanese Jacksons due to the Fender buyoff. Better hardware too than the plastic feeling, babasagin RGs.
Kanya kanya lang yan. I prefer the Jackson neck profile vs the Ibbys. More grip. The only advantage an Ibby has is its AANJ for its bolt one. But some of us prefer the big snappy sound you get with a classic ginormous strat neck joint. Same reason why some people prefer a 550 or a JS in the ibby circles. And some of us prefer the classics. Hehehe! Kung idol ko si Mustaine, hindi ako sa RG titingin.
Paracticality? I think I made a far more practical choice with my Jacksons over my Ibbys. At the same price points, the Jackson has more quality and "feel" for me. The ibbys jsut feel like a toy for me. Sometimes it feels so plastic. Although admittedly there are far better Prestige guitars at that Prestige price point. But Jackson also has some that can match those Prestige guitars in the Pro Line with better wood, far greater paint options, better Pickups, neck thru and a original floyd rose.
If you really want to "really" compare:
JS Jacksons vs GIO Ibbys
Pro Jacksons vs Indo RGs, 1000 series Lower Japanese, Korean Prestige
US Jacksons vs 2000-3000 series Prestige, J Custom
Custom Shop Jackson vs LACS Ibby Custom
Kanya kanya lang yan. Pero kung US Soloist vs JCustom? Pucha US Soloist na ako. Choice of Dimarzio, EMGs or SDs, Original Floyd, Sustainers, better value once you sell it, neckthru, recessed or non recessed cavity, ebony board, alder body, quartersawn birdseye maple neck, stainless fretwires, pearl inlays. Cmon! $3000! You get what you pay for! Snakeskin pa. :lol:

Well, they are just more "long lasting". They stay shiny (and cute) for the longest time. And those Ive played with these high quality wires have far better fretwork. The highest PRO series and all Jackson Stars have them and again, with the superb fretwork and neck binding.
It's a "bung" for the buck! :lol:

i got a jackson with serial 1004??6. it says on the headstock jackson performer. then the truss cover says ps-2. it's an alder body with sharktooth inlays and white binding. regular trem.
my question is whether this guitar is korean or jap? different opinions over at the US forums. and the jackson serial numbering is just too vague. maybe someone here has a better educated guess. it's still stock, and i actually prefer this over my jap fender superstrat. thanks!

First of all, We'd probably think mas inferior yung Japanese Stars kaysa sa USA Select Series, and i thought this as well at the beginning obviously because of the massive price difference . But as i read reviews, i started seeing that kabilktaran naman, the americans are actually drooling over Stars models because Jackson Stars actually allows semi custom orders like paint jobs, bridges, pickup designs, and finishing differences. So basically they can get Somewhat like a USA Custom shop specs for half the price. (its only shipping that gets difficult). Anyway, back to the guitar i got. When i first saw it and opened it up, i was pretty amazed. the work was excellent and the finishing on the guitar was amazing. the binding was clean, the construction was very solid, and the inlays were carved and measured excellently. This was really worth the money you pay for. I think since the fender takeover, Jackson has tried to bring the early 90's professional era back with top quality construction and a lot of choices on imported parts. (yes im very satisfied with the Custom shop Kahler that came with Schaller Floyd Style locking nuts) So to those wondering about jackson stars, I find them really good and the only difference that may annoy one is the STARS written beside the jackson hehe. Plus, if you notice where Jackson puts the strap stud on their Vs. The USA ones place them near the input jack, while Japanese imports have them slightly lower. Thats to address the balance issue people tend to get with neck heavy Vs and it was the same style done by the early 90s MIJ Professionals. So dont be afraid to venture into the japanese line. they're much cheaper and easier to acquire than USA Select Series and they DO NOT sacrifice quality. Since the only real difference of my guitar from the USA select is that its not Abalone Headstock Logo and Mother of Pearl inlays, id say its money very well spent. Go browse through the TN series of Jackson Stars and im sure you can all finally own your Neck Thru Jacksons for very good prices.

im not sure about it but from what ive read and seen, but imho, if i wanted the classic looks, similar sound, and still look awesome, i would rather invest my money on a Y2KV on ebay rather than spend that much on the dominion. :P though there must be difference in the versatility of tone because i think morton's dominion was made for being versatile and able to play country/blues as well. so if thats what youre after, go ahead. any jackson is excellent as long as its not below the professional series, some of those tend to be hit and miss.
yup, i want a versatile guitar that i wouldn't be tempted to use a whammy bar on anymore plus i'd want a LP type guitar without the tremendous weight :lol: i think the performer i got from you is for sale in the threads already bro. :lol:

Lastly serial number. The newer Jackson are easier to identify. Sabi sa JCF forums, pag start ng serial is 96 or 97 it is alder. anything above that basswood na. Though not foolproof. Puwede naman kasi mag swap ng body and necks lalo na if we bought it second hand.

I started collecting these stuffs in October 2010.
I was a dormant guitar player from 2002-2010, good thing I had gathered enough spirit to go back to the thing that I love to do which is "GUITAR PLAYING".
It's a Jackson King V JS32T Model (Entry-Level). It's relatively cheap (just over 20K in Yupangco), but I love every detail of it. Makes we wanna play more good old Megadeth stuffs. :evil:

as far as i know pareho sila ng japanese jacksons ng pinanggalingang factory. pareho din halos ng hardware ng professional jacksons lalo na sa jtp takeuchi tremolos at jackson pickups.thanks for the info :wink:

i have both. pareho lang maganda quality. sa hardware and kahoy lang sila nagkakatalo. pero pareho lang ng quality halos. lalo na yung mga bagong x series ngayon, kuha yung husay ng japanese pro models.

well all i can say is that the fit and finish, fretwork and playability of made in india jacksons are better than most if not all made in china guitars. I have one made in india here, and it is a workhorse.
if you have the money, it would be better of course if you change some hardware parts. for mine, i just changed the pickups. the tremolo and tuners were fine and workable and can withstand regular gigging.

For the price it's really not bad at all; like what Bolt Thrower said might need to replace some parts depending on personal preference and choice of hardware, when I got my 'Made in India' Jackson, the first thing I noticed is that — need pa siya ng konting fine tuning, (i.e. set-up, intonation, etc.) <- hindi kasi ako natuwa sa electronic set-up specifically dun sa grounding; also depending na rin sa personal preference and personal playability standards ..

to be honest, the new x series made in india are light years better than the js series made in india. ang laki ng inimprove.

malayo. if you are used to the usual uniform radius ibanez neck, this is very different. jacksons have compound radius necks. they are thicker near the nut then progressively slim out as you go higher up the neck.

kaso kasi yung slat3-7 dati hindi bumenta sa mga 7string players kasi naintimidate sa 7-in-line headstock at sharkfins. masyado daw metal. lam mo naman uso sa 7 string players ngayon, pa demure minimalist look. kaya they opted for a look that would steal customers from schecter. lol
im always for the 6 or 7-in-line shark headstock.

I'm just lucky to be close to Jackson artist relations that I get information first on what's out before they go into production. Yes! 3 year custom shop na paghihintay. O kaya may mas mura. May USA Semi Custom shop na. Take a US model then you choose her specs from a limited set of options like paint, pickups, bridge, fretboard.
Pag body woods at tops na ang usapan full custom shop masterbuilt na daw. Sayang din. Yung reverse headstock sa quartersawn necks, masterbuilt option lang. :cry:

It's a very nice playing and awesome looking guitar. Just take note it's an extended scale. baka manibago kamay mo. Buy the newer models. The older ones have bridge pickups far away from the bridge.

It's a very nice playing and awesome looking guitar. Just take note it's an extended scale. baka manibago kamay mo. Buy the newer models. The older ones have bridge pickups far away from the bridge.

Mukhang delikado kasi sa mga flat na gigbag yung headstock, unless lagyan ng palaman na foam sa likod ng headstock.
Baka meron po kayo ma-suggest na 1.5k or less para di mapunit ang wallet.

I saw one at JB Music and it sells around 9-11k(forgot the exact figures)
It's made in china but I think it's bang for a buck with its quality. I haven't tested it yet though.
It's so light which I wasn't expecting for a basswood body.

The 2015 Jackson JS32-7, yes 2015, I was wondering bakit kaya yung may mounting rings pa rin yung binebenta sa lahat ng branch ng JB & Salonga. IMO this two(Tobacco Burst and Quicksilver) looks more neat and decent looking for a low-mid range guitar.

Anyone who can confirm what this is?looks like fake for me. not into this kind of guitars but based on the photos I saw, it looks like a cheap guitar from Sta. Mesa and raon.

Hello Guys, recommend me a fixed bridge Jackson, walang preferences sa shape, basta ok ang fretboard at pickup at mura. Di ak maselan, na GA-GAS lang, As much as possible yung meron sa JB.
Also, I know this is Jackson thread, pero versus A Dean or Hamer , how does the entry levels fare? Notice napuro JB may hawak ng mga tanong ko? kase gusto ko abutan yung sale at trade in nila. :)

Hindi na ako familiar sa inventory ng JB but you should be ok sa JS 22 and up na mga models. These are most likely Indonesian or Chinese made. But I suggest you find those old India JS dinkies, RRs or Kellys that are fixed bridge. Or add ka pa ng konti may DKMG Japanese models ka na.
Compared to the Hamer and Deans, mas pulido gawa ng Jackson with the new one. Starter Deans are very shoddy..

DXMG yung naka schaller type trem.
Favorite ko yung nasa kaliwa farthest na soloist kasi yun ang una kong total custom shop at 2 years ko siya hinantay gawin. Pero black pa rin pinili ko paint kasi ginagaya ko si jeff hannemanhahaha
Bali reverse headstock with 90s era logo. Tight pored ebony board, stainless steel frets, MOP inlays and all mahogany body and neck.
Yung katabi niya na stealth black, NAMM custom shop with sterling silver inlays and black binding. Parang salamin sa kintab yung inlays. Alder and maple typical soloist specs.
Next is yung mga Japanese bolt on dinkies na DXMG, DKMG, COW6 and COW7. Naka Fishman pickups na sila ngayon. Inalis ko na mga EMG James Hetfields.

i like the specs of the first one but i think i prefer a rock maple neckthru with mahogany wings hehe

yung mga bago ngayon made in indonesia at mexico na ginagawa. the JS ones are made in china. the slsxmg should be made in indonesia. so it's comparable now to indonesian Ibanez.

it can either be made in india (earlier) or indonesia (later)
if the battery compartment is rectangular its indonesia if its cylindrical its india
pansin ko lang sa indian jackson makapal ang neck compared sa japanese jacksons. neck is fast because of the compund radius pero nakakapanibago ang neck na makapal pag galing kang japanese jacksons
craftsmanship wise below japanese made pero bumawi sila sa specs like neckthru construction, emg active pickups at floyd rose special tremolo
indonesian jackson...... i dont know..... looks good baka mas maganda sa indian
