Has anyone tried asymmetric neck contour (slim on the treble side, round on thumb side) here? How does it compare to C and D in terms of playability and comfort?

i have 2 asymmetrically profiled neck here if you want to try, it doesn't matter what all of us say here
cause at the end of the day its a preference thing.
what might be comfy for me might not be so comfortable for you
so para malaman mo talaga you have to try all of them shapes para malaman mo kugn saan ka talaga comfortable
thing is with asymmetrical neck shapes is its either you love them or hate them like most of the other shapes,
anyway pm me if you want to try how a asymmetric neck feels, we could arrange a meetup of some sort for you to try.

The above post is correct. But I'll tell you what I like about it. It feels particularly comfortable to me because I'm always wrapping my hand around the neck.

have one guitar with this neck profile but it's an acosutic guitar, the feel is really different because when plucking lower strings you'll definitely feel the vibe of the strings through the wood while having the slimmer wood on the higher strings with balanced details to notes. it's a good contour for acoustic guitars IMO. comfort is everywhere in it, not much effort for gripping when doing simultaneous notes to pluck while retaining quality in sound and sustain.

soft V, from my 57 based fender jap strat.

soft V and D!!!

I think I'll be at home with a C, although I've played a U before and the thickness, while not exactly my cup of tea, did force me to play differently, which I think encourages creativity in playing.

Al_Librero & david_leyson: Seems like it. The curvature of our hands seems to concur with the profile of the assymetric neck. Got to try it first though :D

yeah that's the best way to determine what neck contour fits in your hands, on my hand profile, a U-shaped neck contour will be a torture becuase of my finger measure to short for thick necks and fingers ko, so i much prefer a C and C Asymmetric Contour. not too chunky for my hand, not too thin for the sound though, kumbaga yun ang nag fit sa mga daliri ko where i can execute my skills best. test to try until you find your perfect match :D

Yep Soft V from those 57ri's and 54ri's from the mid nineties are my favorite as well. I just need jumbo frets and a flatter radius and i'll be a happy camper

Does the boatneck wrap your hands comfortably when chording? I assume it does since it has less shoulders than a fatback.. :?
-
It does feel comfortable. Although, boat is still somewhat a V, it doesn't feel sharp at all.
