I love music so much that I can't listen to just one genre straight in one day, kailangan ko ng variety palagi. Nadadagdagan lang sila at gusto ko pa rin yung mga pinapakinggan ko nung nagstart ako mag-gitara nung 90's that sometimes sobrang dami na gusto ko mangyari sa playing ko pero hindi naman enough ang practice.

I only really see myself getting better at what I already do. If I give anything up, it's because I'd be limited physically. As in I'd be 40 years old and rolling on the floor, hanging from the ceiling, dropping on people's heads with a mic.

It's not really changing your type of music, but learning to appreciate different types of music. My 1st exposure to music was 70's music, my Dad would be playing a lot of Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Led Zep on our reel player. My Dad's younger brother was an avid jazz fan, I would listen to his jazz records, he collected a lot up until now.

Then came the 80's where the biggest influence bestowed me, I was open minded with music of the 80's. I would listen to electronic, punk, gothic, new wave, rock. This also the era when I started playing the guitar. Came the 90's where where a lot of rock and grunge acts came out, this was also the time when I started looking back at the 70's and even as far as the 50's in playing the guitar.

But I agree with Nathan, I see myself as a slower player than before. Probably not much time to practice. Time is divided with family and business, weekends are not the same when I was single he he he....
I have stated that there are more bad sounding suhrs then there are good ones.

HELL NO!!!

Metal music pa rin ang trip ko at gusto kong tugtugin.

Pero mas marami na akong pinapakinggan ngayon unlike dati na metal lang talaga. Examples are Japanese traditional music (with heavy use of the Shamizen), Jazz of the 70's and 80's, Bossanova of Sergio Mendes, Movie and TV Soundtracks by composers like Hans Zimmer and the like, Enya and classical music either performed by a soprano (Tarja Turunen's my favorite female singer) or stringed instruments.

No. While i find myself being influenced now by artists like Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Scott Mckeon, John Mayer and the likes, I still enjoy listening to Andy James, Buckethead, John 5 and anything in between

I am 50 years and I still love, listen and play Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Uriah, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and many others.  I love blues and I still doing blues.  I love Santana and I can still cover his songs.  But I've learned to do disco, RnB, Pop, love songs because the money is there.

This. I used to love only alternative rock (due to influence of my older brother), but as I got better at guitar, I also started being more open to different musical genres. More music, more influences and nuances I can bring out in my playing. So from my humble alt-rock/indie phase back in high school, now that I'm in college, I've been absolutely fascinated by fusion and inspired to bring my playing and knowledge of theory to whole new levels.

I also think the musicians who inspired and influenced you won't change. You loved their playing so much that you recorded them pretty much permanently into muscle memory, and I don't think that can easily change. Ako naman, kahit kailan, 'di magbabgo yung Petrucci/Vai/Govan/Gilbert/etc fanboyism ko, lol. Funeral song ko ay "The Spirit Carries On" from Metropolis Pt. 2.

I think my taste of music don't change but rather expand. hehehe.

From highschool, I'm into emo, poprock, to metal. Now I'm into blues, acoustic covers, and alternatives. But emo, poprock, and metal are still on my playlist. I still enjoy them. namimiss ko rin. :D
And baby if I need to, yeah I will keep you in the corner of my eye...
