Title: October Jam EB- Oct 16 Call for Bands !

Dudes.
Lets try something different for our JAM EB's in October !
I propose a Royal Rumble type JAM EB !!! See what it means na ?
Walang set na band. Just individual musicians. Tapos we segregate the night into four sections (up for suggestion). One hour per section. Progressions (or set songs) to be discussed, either on-site or dito na.
1. Blues 2. Jazz 3. Metal Jam 4. Classic rock Jam
Tapos draw lots kung sino ang una. After 5-10 minutes (depende sa turnout), hubad gitara (or switch amp setups) at ipasa na sa susunod na gitarista. Same with the bahista. And keys kung me magdadala. Yung drummer lang ang me problema, he can't be replaced in the middle of the tune. :D
Pwede din one night for every genre. Kayo, let's see how this forms.

Dudes, wag muna natin pag-usapan sino kasali at kung anong instrumento...that's the easy part.
Eto yung mga pag-usapan natin :
1. Oks ba yung concept na 4 genres in 1 night ? Or 1 genre per night ? Or anywhere in between ? What genres would you like to see in there ?
2. What progressions or songs will be open for jam ?
3. What are the mechanics for switching players ?
4. How long is a single progression or song ?
Me ideas na ko...pero gusto ko din marinig yung sa inyo.

Tam, iba pa to. Tuloy ang Sept. 18.
Jaz, ala ako alam masyado sa Jazz, so kaw na mag-forward ng Jazz progression. Eh kung ako lang tatanunging nyo, sa Blues, I-IV-V in E (ahehehe ang korni ano ? ). So siguro yun na for Blues para simple lang. Ano ang para sa Jazz ? :D
Classic Rock, ideas ko ay Hendrix (in tribute sa lugar), Cream-Clapton, Beck, Chuck Berry 60's style,Deep Purple, Led Zep, Surf style (ventures), Elvis, Queen (ooops, sorry can't help it haheheh). Let's see where that goes, pero maganda yung mga kanta na mahahaba ang improv portions. Pag-pilian na lang to.
Metal...naku mga metalheads kayo na mag-forward ng shred pieces nyo. How you want it ? Isang enter sandman tapos sa gitna, labu-labo na ? :D
Okay...my idea is each progression or song is 10-15 minutes each. Each player 5 minutes each (depends on how many) 2 guitarists, 1 bassist, 1 drummer and kung me darating 1 keys. Me mod na magta-timer tapos sesenyasan yung bababa. Yung bababa will turn over the guitar to the next player (so what, we should have a "common" guitar in there ? ) Hindi sabay ang pagbaba ng gitarista. Preferably isa o dalawang pedal lang per guitarist, isang Tube screamer saka isang Disto pedal. Bassist, ala nang effects. Kung konti lang ang bahista na darating, mag-senyasan na lang sila kung gusto na ng ka-relyebo.
Sad to say, the drummer can only be replaced at the end of of each tune or jam.
Okay, parang medyo okay na ng konti to. laman na lang, songs and progressions na lang ! Syempre, final rules will depend on our actual contingencies when we get to the site e.g. how's the attendance, what time we started etc.

pano kaya kung style survivor? i-vote out yung gusto i-vote out ng audience or other members? it may be because the guy sucks and is ruining the jam... or he's too good and therefore depressing ("he's a threat!", ika nga sa survivior)... pero bawal mga alliance ha! :lol:
still tho, one guy can't stay for more than, say, 2 songs straight. he can be voted back in pag nakaikot na sa lahat.
ang dapat lagyan ng time limit is the songs being jammed on, not the no. of choruses/progressions and solos. maybe 10 mins per song is ok na. obviously, yung solo spots dapat ikot sa lahat. may 2 choruses per spot para may konting build up at hindi bitin.

how about awarding also before closing of the said event? most versatile player, shredder of the night, showmanship award? not only for guitarist but also for other musicians who attended. hehe! compliment baga... tapos may challenger sa next eb. just a suggestion... :D

Eto lang si Jazhombie, manginig ka dito pag nagpatugtog to e. It will make lesser guitarists like myself feel small nyahahahahehe. But that's just me. Kayo ! If you think it will make things more fun, let's go for it !
One thing's for sure. We'll need a whiteboard to write down the chord progressions !

youve been watching too much reality TV sir Delta haha.
how about titles of songs na lang... assign players for each song plus the time limit for the song siempre...this way, pati bassist, drummer and singer umiikot. panget naman kung panay progression lang.

kung gusto nyo mala-rockstar na lang, hehe. mag-list tayo ng songs dito sa thread na pwedeng tugtugin, tapos per song, magpa-line up na lang ng mga tao, gets?
tapos yun parang sign-up per song. tapos sipra sipra na lang tayo mga zires. ayos ba? para instead na bands yung naka-lineup, this time, songs naman. tapos medyo organized na royal rumble ang labas since magja-jamming jamming iba ibang tao. ayos ba?

Sonny, here are cheap straplocks. I actually got a couple this weekend. It works.
Dunlop 7007SI Ergo Lok Strap System
Product Description:
A brand new twist on the old idea of the strap lock. Dunlop's Ergo Strap Lock is a one-piece locking device that you simply slip over the existing strap pin on your guitar (with the strap in place) and just give it a twist to keep your guitar securely in place. There's no need for extra hardware.

Attach your strap as usual, then place the Ergo Strap Lock over the strap button so that the head of the button extends through the "keyhole" in the strap lock. Here's a reference for Sunny (this performance is with Pat Martino and John Scofield) - great jam tune!!!

ok ang mga suggestions ninyo....favor nga lang ang hinihingi ko sa inyo...paki video tape para mapanood namin ng mga socal gitarists... :lol:
meron nga pala kaming socal eb on october 1...for obvious reasons dun muna ako pupunta..... :( sana sa pareho para mas masaya..
sana high tech--maisatellite link natin parehong eb...that is kung simultaneous na gagawin...hehe mangarap ba?
anyway one suggestion lang po....dapat gawin ninyo ding obligatory jam yung johnny b goode where everyone can jam....just like what they did in GIT like a decade ago...d ko alam pangalan ng video, binigyan lang ako ng copy ni blue buddha...
saya noon....na-guiness record book ata yun e.most guitarists jamming on one tune...jeff baxter nandon, tommy tedesco(on a mandolin!)..brian setzer....GIT students...anyway suggestion lang po
and gawa din kayo ng jam for the pinoy rock genre.... :lol:

You can also open up a "Latino Rock" jam category so people can trip on Santana chestnuts like Oye Como Va, Jingo, Soul Sacrifice, Europa, Samba Pa Ti, etcetera! Bagay sa PRS. hehe

While I'd like to help to bring structure to this event, I'm stumped :D. So I guess I have to leave it a lot up to you guys to decide which is/are the better tunes.

Eto guys...based on the reactions and suggestions, parang judging on how many guys know the tunes, medyo buo na ang line-up. Nagdagdag na ko, specially the ones from Juan dela Cruz...yea we did those in the last Perfjam and while simple, provides ample elbow room for Jammin.
Dagdag pa kayo...let's make it a pool. Although me thinks at 10-15 minutes per song (lol) these tunes will keep us busy for the entire night. Siguro anything more, lets chalk up to "let's see what happens" basis :D. Kumbaga, "come armed".
Pero malayo pa ang October, parang gusto ko na. Didnt know it would take shape so soon. Would you guys be open na dukutin na natin ang September 25 for this ? On an exploratory basis pa syempre. I have to check pa kung me happening na on that night.

Guys calling calling. Please bring extra mikes. Gusto ko sana ma-record ang gabing to, but Haze only has a few. Hindi nga natuloy last time yung recording coz they lacked 2 mikes to mike the guitar amps :D

Sonny, in most likelihood, we will do this again in November. No sweat. The way how well things are turning out, I'd say it would be blasphemy too not to have a sequel :D

I guess the general rule here is what is the most universally known version. LIke kunwari, Blackbird, the most universally known version is the one from Beatles. :D example lang.

I hope someone can bring a whiteboard. With marker. Saka Sticky gum labels sana for name labels.
I'll be coming with a guitar, a small pedalboard and a mid-sized amp.

bamf - i'm bringing an extra amp (TM60) and a SansAmp in case kailangan pa may sumaksak ng gtrs (DI but they do well in a pinch).

Two words that best describe my feeling while i played with the brightest players in Guitar Central: " BLOWN AWAY"
I was humbled by the masters of this forums...in fact the jam eventually became blues night courtesy of Masters Delta Slim and Psychic Sushi with the aid of his royal higness of the drums, master toybitz. Eevryone stood out ..except me...for me this is quite a learning experience iM willing to immerse again and again and again.
Field reviews for the following Mojomen:
Jazhombie: of course...he raised the roof and brighten up the show when he displayed his wizardry over the instrument...it was as if he was possessed by the masters. Never fails to earn praises from the forumites...iba na talaga ang magaling. Minsan pagamit naman nung GR33 mo..heheheh
Delta Slim/Joric: Yeah!Joric is god! All hail the Pinoy Delta Blues King. He's smoking hot on his Les Paul. Eto ang ideal mentor sa blues. Masarap pa kasama kasi kwela si sir Joric. His unusual style of playing makes it look like a walk in the park. pero di mo talaga matatawaran ung galing nya sa slide. sarap kasama sa tugtugan.
The Almighty Psychic Sushi: it was face off between Psychic Sushi and Jazhombie. guess who won......none....they kept complementing each other they lost taste for battle. I learned a lot from the sushi man, just by watching him play the instrument...he was one way or another, the modern day Hendrix with a twist of Eddie Van Halen. He was a walking innovation just like Jay and Joric. Indeed no one would disagree that Psychic Sushi is a fretboard monster to beat. He was my teacher for a night, ang God knows he taught me alot in the few hours we've been together. Kudos to you sir.
Drum Demi god Toybitz: he was groovy...alright..one thing i love about this guys is his unmistakable fill ins that every bass player will enjoy. Im no bass player and yet we had a connection that night that others might not be able to comprehend. He's Steve Gadd on a younger perspective and his grooves are what makes the jams more lively.
Sir Ronnie A: Kasabay ko pa umuwi to kagabi...ah este pumasok pala ako. I look forward to jam with you again soon. When you played what you wont' do for love, I though you were just kidding....turned out that it was for real and even turned around into a blues convention with just that song. I'm learning from you as we progress sir..tutal ilang canto lang ang pagitan natin sa Ortigas..Im just a text away if you want to grab coffee while enjoying a valuable conversation on guitar stuff.
The Badass bassplayer that I forgot the name: why badass? plain and simple..he was the catalyst that we were looking for that night. he completed the lineup and surprised us with the notes sufficient to create the strong tight rhythm. It was a jam per se but the royal rumble wont be complete without your presence. Till the next jam señor. Cant wait to hear your rumbling notes in the key of E.
That blues player formerly known as Kulas: One word! He was TIGHT, he was soloing..he was playing blues like he was srv...MAN..DI KO MATATAWARAN UNG SIMPLE YET EFFECTIVE ANALOG SETUP MO....he is a good player..and a good player he will remain. next jam ulit schoolmate..Animo San Beda!

balik kayo lahat sa 16th. i'll be in my natural habitat (ie, Firebottle). sigurado, mas kabit at buo na ung mga songs and mas kagigiliwan ninyo. :-)
bamf - consider mong invite natin ung iba pang blues band para mahatak na natin ung blues brothers and the rest of the blues community sa 16th. (ps, ung Blue Rats di raw avail due to sked conflicts. i can ask the others for you)
another suggestion is to also feature the "J3", ie jazz trio, featuring pschic_sushi, jazzhombie, and deacon blues. grabe un!!!

I've been given the go signal for all genres...well...I was just told prior to be wary of Emo and Hardcore specifically. Nothing against those, it's just an effort to prolong equipment life.
Please ask Kulakuti and others if they want to play. If the J3 is ready with at least 4 songs, go na mga ser ! Top billers of the night !

Thanks for the compliments, I'm flattered and flattened :) It was great to be flanked with great company and to jam the night away. In fact... my shoulder still hurts from having that guitar on so long! Sign me up for the next meet up :)
It was great to have all these fantastic talents under one roof, I've got a feeling that the EB will grow big, coz the word is bound to spread like wildfire.
As for my compliments in return:
Deltablues - without a shadow of doubt, you are THE MAN! Parang sinasaksak ako sa gilid when you hit those notes dude, and when you took of the slide, ouch pa rin! Consider me demolished! Great tone, great feel, I was commentng to Deacon_Blues that when you hit those notes, and and the way your tone soars and sings, it displays seniority, authority, pure expressiveness.
Jazzhombie - can't wait for our part two! it was fantastic to have met and jammed with you. threw everyone for a spin with the two handed technique and synth sounds, and your jazz lines were really happening dude! sarap! we had a great exchange on "the chicken" i'm looking forward to our next encounter... no overdrive ;)
Toybits - i always look forward to jam with you dude, my fave drummer :) tight on the groove like a pitbull on a postman, great touch and dynamics, you are IT. The telepathy ontage is priceless, its all in the hands and the foot! BTW- galingmo na mag-solo sa guitar! I was listening closely ;) heheheheh
Elmo - versatile! tough contender too! its was great to jam with you and chat afterwards. This is one guy to look out for, one minute shredding on guitar, next thing you know he's behind the drums... surprise! he's grooving on bass! Talk about we'll rounded. He sings pa!
Kulas - cool set up dude, the guitar and pedal board surprised me, sounded really great! I heard those licks too brother, hanep rin, next time hit the stage early so we can hear more :)
Mr. Ronnie A. - wally's blues was smoking! threw us for a spin to on that track, whew! It's was great to meet you, I'm looking forward to hearing more :)
Floyd_Nikita - Damn, I missed that bluesy growl that i used to hear atb aldo's. was nice to hear that! (Maybe he sung the angry blues after i joked that minron was on the drums, heheheheh, buti nalang, he wasn't holding the bottle of beer onstage...)
Bro. tam_guitar - was really great to meet you at long last! next time, you better hit the stage! oh, about the tele... she's gonna be buried with me ;) but you can use her, basta ikaw :)
deacon_blues - we have to all join our powers to get him to play! I'm all for the J3 :)
and of course... to the host with the most... the guru of gear, high lord of tweaking, the the man that puts the "scream" in tubescreamer... the emperor of modified devices... shogun of sonics... the datu of distortion and mofo of modding... sorry sa OT:actually kulas ung printouts na sinasabi mo...isang folder pa lng un...nahanap ko na ung 500+ na pix coollection nya at pinagawa ko lahat in full color para mas maganda, sayang ung pic quality, and of course there are movies as well, me nagpadala sa kin na kaibigan ng ilang mga pelikula nya. Gusto ko ma-collect lahat. Sabi na nga ba pag si Maria Ozawa na ang pinag-uuspan ..kuha ko kaagad attention ni Master Deltaslim!!! Something in common...Maria Ozawa fan din ako...we like Jap stuff...di ba kulas ikaw din?

But! ... and here's the big 'BUT' ..
We're not exactly sure if we can find time to do that. With the number of bands lined up, I don't see how we can squeeze in a free-for-all jam.
But if the sked permits, why not?
It'd be great too if we can find a willing keyboardist to sit in..

Man, that was one good night of jamming! I dont have the time this morning But Let me just say na marming Salamat sa mga dumalo at nagperform kagabi sa Haze!
Talk about attendance---I believe this is the most number of attendees we had since we started this gig last August.
We had the honorof having the main man--the God father of PhilMusic.com PINOYMUSIKA in the house!

pano kung: , bunutan kung sino ang magiging magkabanda mo for that night. pati genre bubunutin nila, tapos impromptu jam . kung jazz, nabunot, tugtog jazz on the spot. pero hindi cover song. orig dpat or mag-improvise. o kung cover song man,dapat sarili version. kunware isang popular song na hindi jazz pero gagawin nilang jazz that night. basta ang concept, pnta ka sa venue as individual musician then dun mo pa lang malalaman kung sino kabanda mo at kung anong tutugtugin nyo.

That evening was a total, the best place in the country with the best blokes rounded up in a venue!
What can I say?! IMHO, the real show stopper... is Caren! hanep! Huge tone, great technique, Armand is one lucky S.O.B!!!
Thank you in a hundred languages to BAMF for setting this up. Gotta hand it to him guys, he's one helluva visionary. Plus, I gotta thank BAMF for that fantastic pedal mod, the only pedal I have to stomp on ONCE the whole set (to switch it on) coz it does EVERYTHING, with flying colors!
