habang tumatagal lalong gumaganda ung tunog? alam ko sir sa skin ng drums un eh, ang alam ko sa mga cymbals natin eh na mmaintain ung sound nila pagka inaalagaan mo sila, pero gumaganda habang tumatagal? hmmm... i suggest that you clean your cymbals regularly para kahit papano eh hindi na masakop ng todo ng green stain ung cymbals natin. and ive read a book about using metal polish sa mga cymbals and it says na hindi daw tama un. whether ur cymbal is a brilliant finish one or not it will affect ur cymbal one way or another, i dont know, visually or maybe even sa sound mismo. ingatan niyo mga sir ung investment natin ang mahal kaya ng mga cymbals hehehe.

Many believes that B20s specially Ks develop it's own character when you let it by itself without cleaning it.. :-D

Sheet Bronze -> papanget ng papanget
Cast Bronze -> paganda ng paganda

yes yes i think this is similar to benny greb's signature cymbal the "sand ride," they sand blast the cymbal to give it its unique look and sound, the cymbal looks old but sounds like almost like a K zildjian ride or maybe even better. sa youtube sir andun sya. i personally think dry cymbals sounds great. hindi sila maingay masyado.

nasabi ko na to noon: i dont think accumulated dirt is enough hehehe. a crappy sounding cymbal today will still sound like crap after 50 years...only dirtier.

some will argue: play your cymbals para "gumanda" yung tunog same as old, well-played guitars having mojo.

but then again i dont think gumaganda ang tunog ng cymbal, nagbabago lang ang tunog nung mga bagong labas na cymbal because they dont make them like they used to example:

parang avedis nung 90's magaganda yun compared dun sa mga lumabas ng 2000 onwards. it doesnt mean na sobrang gumanda yung tunog nung 90's version dahil sa dumi at pagpalo, zildjian just changed the way the newer models were made and the new models sucked compared to the older ones.

did you think the Ks of today were made the same way as the older 50's and 60's Ks? i dont think so.

tumpak! Dapat talaga gumamit ng magandang klaseng mic, tapos yung cymbal mismo ang ikumpara sa sarili nya after 20 years of being dirty. :-D

mahirap yun pre, has to be the same mic, same position, same hand, same force hehehe.

we can all agree that all cymbals sound unique...so just pick the best sounding cymbal among the bunch. whether its clean or dirty, it will sound good because IT IS GOOD. only the good things endure because they become sought-after classics. i've heard vintage cymbals and they arent all that impressive, just old.

HELP Zildjian Cymbal Cleaning Polish
« Reply #438 on: January 21, 2010, 03:49:13 AM »
I just bought this Zildjian Cymbal Cleaning Polish at JB music

the cleaner is recommended for: K Custom, K, A Custom, Avedis, Z Custom, FX, ZXT, ZBT

instruction said: Apply polish sparingly to a cloth
apply to cymbal from cloth using light pressure.
black residue will appear on the surface of the cymbal

kung pagtiya-tiyagaan mo talaga punasan yung black residue, magiiba yung color niya and magiging mejo shiny.

imo, recommended lang siya for brilliant finished cymbals. not so much for traditional.

pero meron ako nakita dito sa forums ginamitan ni paeng16 yung zildjian cymbal cleaner sa avedis crash na traditional. he was able to make it clean and shiny. sana makakuha tayo ng tips sa kanya. paging paeng!  :-D
