there are lots of ways tuning a snare, or even the entire set.
you can make the resonant head/batter head tight if you prefer a higher pitch on your kit. But what is important is you make the lugs equally tightened, producing them to have equal sounds at each lug. about 1-1.5 inches. that goes to your toms palang.
Sa snare, try removing first the wires, kc ako i tend to make the least tension for my resonant head/bottom head. tapos i tighten the snare to the extent, pwede din naman at your own pitch, as long as equal ang produced sound ng bawat lug. tapos its better to make your left tom 3 notes higher to your snare.

hope that helps man. 8)
drum forward.

tune it fairly tight
if u want more crack, high pitched, tune the reso tighter than the batter
dont crank ur snare wires, it will affect the dynamics.
no muffling, i mean no paper, tapes, tissue

good day,

I suggestmaglagay ka ng donut o yun O-ring na nilalagay sa ibabaw ng batterhead ng snare to reduce overtone. May nabibili nito sa audiophile.

If you dont want metal sound or overtones, might as well buy a wood snare. Kse personality na at characteristics talaga ng mga metal snares(brass, bronze, etc..) yun sound na ito which some drummers do like naman.

put Oring pag sa bahay ka lng praktis pero pag live or wit the band tanggalin mo na para open ung tunog. remember iba naririnig ng audience at drummer.

Ok din itong suggestion. Pero parang baligtad yata, kse a lot of times sa live playing the tech will ask me kung paano ko marereduce yun overtones sa snare ko. Sa bahay naman ok lang may overtones kse ikaw lang naman ang nakikinig or kung gusto mo walang overtones use whatever means possible. pero kung preference nga nung player ma reduce yun metal sound or overtones be it live or at home use whatever means possible to get your desired sound, personal taste yun ng drummer lalo na sa snare drum sound. A lot of great drummers have distinct snare drum sounds na kapag sila na yun pumamapalo alam mo na na siya yun like Steve Gadd kse preferred sound nya yun. An open sound does not always mean a good sound. Again preference yan ng drummer. Sa live playing naman naka mic yun drums so more often than not controlled yun sound na lalabas wag mo nga lang hahatawin ng malakas yun snare drums dahil ndi ito mapapatunog ng tech ng maayos.

peace

IMO,u cant get it, kc naka mic un. iba na labas nun kc na mix na un. pangalawa iba snare nya sa snare mo and the heads.

sa snare mo naman.
i suggest bili ka ng new heads.
remo coated ambasador over clear ambasador snare side sa JB music
500 pesos each.
basahin mo ng paulit ulit ung tuning bible. lahat ng mga tunog (fat, wet, cracky, open, pop, highly resonant etc) makukuha mo pag natutunan mo and experiment! hanapin ang sweet spot ng current snare mo. un lng talaga.... ok kaya, ganito na lng, tune mo ung batter side base dun sa 'feel'
meaning pag hinampas mo, makukuha mo ung tamang 'rebound' ng stick mo. sa resonant side naman tune mo ng mas mahigpit kesa sa batter side. kakalabasan nito high pitched, cracky sound. ayan. isang example. :P
zzzz

yep as Eni mentioned, you cant get it because aside from being miced, they also applied compression.

the closest thing is by replacing your batter head with evans genera dry. tune the batter slightly tighter than the resonant to get that dry crackling sound. use a wood snare for an even drier sound.

changing heads is always a good idea. hehe. ano ang snare side ba nyan? Maganda yung manipis na snare side para sensitive sya sa wires tlaga.

tapos... about sa pagpalit ng wires I dont know. Kasi manipis na ang picolo kaya masmabilis ang snare reaction na sya compared sa deeper drums.  Yung wire pinapalitan from 20 to 40 for deeper drums kasi minsan parang bitin na ang tunog nya.

Masmabuti kung ma-try mo muna yung wire bago mo bilhin.
