Also have the ultra fuzz, nice pedal as well 8-) the Zvex FF drastically cleans up around 8-8.5ish. yung ultra fuzz has plenty of output too and can double as an od din. unity is at around 11 o clock with very little dirt dialed in. past that it'll give your spittly tone extra oomph.

does bad monkey works good with a solid state? :?tried on both. marshall 8040 and a fender 30 watter for solid states and various tube amps. sounded good for both kinds.

Smart uncle. Yup, that's the best way to use the metalzone for driving amps and other pedals. Wonderful and heavy as hell in front of my fender tube amp. Add in the powerful shaping ability of the mid/mid freq knobs, you have a solid overdrive.

gara talaga MT2 bossing, mejo nalilito pa din ako sa difference overdrive and distortion... ang alam ko kasi pag distortion mas maingay tsaka ok sa mga power chords, tapos pag solo na, overdrive gamitin na.. kaya natipuhan ko yung Metal zone, pag mejo may kumakanta sa banda namin, iset ko lng para mag chug chug na tunog ung ala smoke on the water, tapos pag mag adlib na ako, babaan ko yung gain...Yeah man! Tambay ka lang dito. Abang mode. :wink:
dami pa palang effects pedals maliban sa Boss, nung di pa ako marunong mag net, Boss daw pinakamagara, pero kung wala kang budjet, pwede na yung Daphon o kaya Denio,... ung kabanda ko dati, nagawa ng overdrive pedals, ung inaasemble lng, made in Raon daw, maayos naman tumunog kaso mas ok yung boss MT2...
pero mukhang mas magagara yung mga gamit nyo.. pag naka ipon na ko, tatanong ako ulit dito... baka mamya ayaw ko na ng MT2, abang abang lang me dito, thanks thanks
I use a Fulltone OCD with a tweed pro junior and I love the way it growls. I hear its very amp-specific but it likes EL84 based amps. Give it a try. :)
The Barber direct drive isnt far behind the OCD in my list.. or maybe i'm just a big fan of british voiced overdrives. Though I havent heard that many, and I've only tried a couple. :)
The best commercial overdrive pedal I have heard and used is a stock Boss OD-3.
Was considering either the barber direct drive or the MI audio blues pro pero nung makita ko itong thread bihira sila namention kaya I'm having second thoughts. Dami palang overdrive available on the market bigla ako nalito hehe. My budget is 4k to 6k for a boutique overdrive.share ko lang bro, after having the bb preamp... i posted my blues pro & blue boy deluxe for sale the very same day. Parang magic eh :-)

I change my position.... the NOC3 Pure Drive is the best for me so far. Also, the Danelectro Transparent Overdrive is surprisingly amazing as well. I have both and they're very transparent. :-D

I have a BB+ and a Zendrive. I personally like the combination, sounds like a Zendrive but only bigger with more gain and compression. Sounds good to my ears :-)

Haven't heard or tried much but best so far for me was spankyrigor's Lovepedal Eternity Burst. Tried that pedal several times on different occasions - just liked playing and hearing it. :)
For you, I think you'll enjoy the E6 more. It has a voicing and a gain range that is very usable for genres ranging from alternative to hard rock to metal. The Burst is better for blues and other low gain applications.
Boss BD2
In order:
1. Barber Direct Drive SS. I prefer it more than the regular DD. By far it's still the best OD pedal I've tried. Hassle lang ang pagtimpla sa trim pots pero once you get the right blend, saktong sakto na. David Barber also has settings for the internal trimpots depending on what sound you are after. Contemplating on getting the DDSS or the new smaller version of the Direct Drive.
2. Barber Half Gainer. Highly tweakable. Mid control is really a big plus for this pedal. Can be transparent or mid-humpish sounding.
3. Lovepedal Eternity E6. Love the gain and compression on this one. For me this was a stand alone OD pedal. The Half Gainer was better for stacking.

Sounded clear and no loss of bass. I remember having only sold it for an OCD. Mas kailangan ko kasi ng amp-like od kesa TS e. Run it at 18v sir, huge difference in tone when it's running at 18v as opposed to 9v.

I think it sounds best played with single coils , especially strats. If you're into the "SRV, Mayer, Philip Sayce, Kenny Wayne Sheperd,etc blues" thing, then the FD-2 is a perfect fit. :)
They sound good with chords also, but just a little bit smooth for me. I prefer having a bit of grit for chord work.

My EMDrive is my always ON pedal. Makes my guitar sound brighter and with "grit" depending on my picking strength.

I've been with cool cats for a while now and some of them are said to be clones of some good and popular pedals. I have both the v1 drive, said to be an ocd clone. And a v2 transparent overdrive, said to be a Timmy clone. I like the drive a lot, responds well to picking dynamics and volume. I just leave it on and I can go from punchy clean to a lot of gain by just a turn of the volume knob. The transparent OD, gives off a nice punchy clean tone to a good crunch. Because of that I'll get the real ocd amd timmy at some point; just because.uy i haven't seen your sig in while. welcome back!
The ehx soul food is quite interesting sound wise, not too expensive too.
At the top of my list is still the barber direct drive. The latest version sounds even better, from youtube at least.

The Soul Food for one thing uses silicon diodes where the Klon (and the Arc Klone) uses Germanium. Fuzzheads here in the forum can probably attest to the difference in feel between the two: Germanium Fuzzes being more spongy while the Silicon Fuzzes having a bit of a hard edge to the notes. The SF vs the Klon/e is the same way. I also have a Soul Food btw.
They can be made to sound similar, in the same way that a Zoom 707 can actually be tweaked to "sound like" a real Marshall etc especially when recorded. But I assure you the feel and the response of the Klon/e compared to the Soul Food is also vastly different.

Interesting, since we can only dream of owning an actual Klon, can you say the Klone is the closest? in Feel and Sound?

I also have an ARC Klone. And last year I've gotten a chance to try out a Silver Klon and a KTR. Between the 3 I'd say they all sound the same, disregarding very minor differences due to parts tolerances.
The SF I have just sounds and feels different.
Cleanish tones are somewhat similar, but the similarities end once you crank up the gain knob. The Klon/es get hairier and bigger while still retaining the clarity and note separation. While the SF gets a bit Lo-Fi while retaining the volume, which is weird. It feels like you're listening to a low-bitrate recording of a klon, if that makes any sense. I remember observing the same thing when i first compared my Bad Monkey (which is essentially a TS modeller) to a TS808.

are the V1 and V2 the same except for the dip Switch?

Dami na palang OCD Versions.. Mapapaisip ka tuloy kung anong version dapat bilhin. Some claim though that the V2 sounds best.

In terms of overall gain on tap, the OCD packs quite a lot for an overdrive. I actually consider it myself as a high gain overdrive, also the Barber Super Sport. It's not metal distortion high gain though but still very much within overdrive characteristics.

thanks to all who replied.Hard to tell TBH. I mean we can run the signals of these things into an oscilloscope but all we will get is a visual of the waveform, but one man's OD may already be another's distortion.

Yes. Xotic RC Booster. Had both and tried both at the same time. Save for pot differences in sweep, I'd say it's pretty darn close in sound. :-)
For boost / low-gain OD, at bedroom level, i love the wampler tumnus both for single coil and humbucker. adds something magical and makes every other drive pedal you stack it with sound tight.

I have! Hahaha! Curiosity got the best of me with these Mooer pedals and comparing them with the originals. Generally, I can say that their drive pedals can get close to the originals in terms of overall sound. Flex Boost is based on the Xotic AC Booster.
Between the three famous Xotic pedals (RC, AC, BB), I still liked the BB Preamp best with the AC Booster in close second (I just hate the yellow color). The AC Booster sounds super creamy. The RC Booster was nice but later on I learned that I'm not a "clean boost" type of guy. I like my overdrives with a handful of gain. :lol:

2. Boss SD-1 (Keeley 5-Star Ge Mod)
3. Xotic SL Drive
If you had them, how would you arrange them?
