^^^how much is your budget?
ZHT medium ride is ok not so expensive but lacks definition and volume, IMO.
I'm using an Avedis Medium Ride, great stick definition, loud, and very musical "wash" sound.  More expensive but far cheaper than the customs.

if i were you, mag-ipon ka na lang muna, then abang ka lang ng mga 2nd hand high end cymbals sa classifieds like A's and A customs. Investment ang mga cymbals bro. :-)

I still have my Scimitar Bronze 20" Ride. 8 years ago, I don't know jack about selecting cymbals. I bought it kasi it is slightly more expensive than Scimitars when I was starting out.

Maganda ang bell sound and excellent wash. Controlled ang overtones at may magandang fundamental note.

Pag marami na uli akong pera, ito rin target ko.

But for now, Avedis Medium muna.

Mga sir,

Ask ko lang kung ano mas okay na Hihats, K's or A's.
Our music is a mix of alternative metal and experimental rock.
I want to know which one is better suited.
I'm currently using A 14" New Beat HH, pero I'm still not satisfied.

Thanks!

I've always liked the K's better than the A's. If I want something that cuts, I'll probably choose something warmer than A's pero glassy sounding.

May mga drummers in the genre you mentioned na Ks ang ginagamit so I suited din siguro un.. It'll all boil down to your personal preference.

And among the K's iba iba pa rin ang tunog depende sa series/sub series - k hybrids sound different from the k customs.. Best bet is to try it out. Bring the ride and crash that you'll pair it with then try it out. So maganda, irecord din, tapos balikan ung sound file after makapahinga ung tenga.. tapos saka magdecide..

Thanks! Medyo dry nga pag A's. But I know that Josh Freese used them dati sa APC. Gusto ko talaga yung cymbal sounds nya. Thanks again, sir.

well, new beats are designed to handle just about everything. and if i'm not mistaken, freese used new beats when he was still with zildjian.

what exactly makes you unsatisfied with your new beats?

Well, the new beats are okay. I think Freese used Ks based on what I read on a Modern Drummer issue. That's why when he switched to Paiste, he wanted to still get that K sound. Maybe kulang lang sa pagka-dark yung new beats. Pero I would really love to hear the 15" New Beats. Dream ko talaga yung 15"s. Thanks, sir.

Paiste would actually get him well away from the K sound. he uses Signatures, which are actually brighter than A's.

subukan mo ginawa ko... i got a different top for my New Beats. I had a cracked 18" K Dark Crash Med Thin, had it cut down to 14", and I now use it as my top hihat. darker overall, smoother and fuller when open, more crisp and defined when closed. you could go the same route and get a 14" K or K Custom top (maybe even trade your New Beat top for one)

I'm currently using A 14" New Beat HH, pero I'm still not satisfied.

Take note that no two A's sound the same, kahit parehong model, size, weight, or itsura.

I've never heard a pair of New Beats that sounded like mine. There are some I have hated, some I have tolerated. But I love mine. It took a long time to find them, but it was worth the wait. So kung hindi mo pa gamay yung sa iyo, there is probably someone out there who is looking for the sound of your New Beats.

Experts! May nagbebenta saken ng A Custom 18" Medium Crash, 2.5k mura lang. Ok ba to? I have A Custom 10" splash and I love the sound so much.
Kaya I'm thinking this is good buy, though nababasa ko sa net mabigat daw to.

Di ko pa naririnig in actual, pero walang dents at maganda pa.
I am coming from ZBTs kaya medyo atat magkaron ng pro-cymbal. hehe!

Thanks!
