True, addictive. Magastos na bisyo. D40 is a nice cam to start and so is EOS 400D. Both canon and nikon are excellent brands. Tried and tested

take their advice and go to pinoy photography forum and look for cameras for sale. dami rin dun.
if i were u go for the 350d, or the d70s. bagsak presyo na sila. kung may budget ka, d80 agad.
but thats digital paalala ko lang.

if u wanna be good, go for manual muna. kahit a second hand fm10 will do. or maybe mas uma ng konti dun. basta malinis lente, panalo un.

ok nga daw d40 sabi ng mga kakilala ko. i've seen shots using the d40 and ok na ok talaga...

ako wala akong dslr. just started taking pictures na medyo mas seryoso lately. i use p&s lang... sony cybershot s500. kung wala ka pa budget for dslr, get a sony or canon na point and shoot. =)

check out this site din:

my God, DSLR agad ang pinabili sa kanya.

what i think is that he should try and borrow stuff is possible, kahit saglit lang. para lang malaman yung feel ng cameras - P&S, prosumer and then DSLR. then let him decide for himself where he wants to start.

anyway, eto mga trip kong cams per class

point and shoot - Canon A710IS, A640 and the like
prosumer - Canon S3 IS
DSLR - Nikon D40/D40X (if upgrading from a p&s or nothing) or Nikon D80 (if upgrading from prosumer)

yup tama si sir al =)

bro feel mo muna yung cam then tsaka mo pagaralan yung unit na makukuha =) master it kumbaga =)

its like this will you drive a formula 1 race car if your 300pounds? hehehehhe =)

pero kung papipiliin ako for reference mine is this

point and shoot = canon s5 or canon g7 =) s5 medyo malaki and g7 is maliit =) labo ko mag explain hehehe
pro dslr =) if you want fast idmark II dami na nagbebenta ng mura nito dahil dumaan na mark II N and mark III na ngayon
full frame go for 5D but kung medyo limited budget go for 400D or 20D or 30D

hehehehe nga pala maka canon ako =) dunno sa nikon kung ano okay =)

tama at least you can freely try shooting without fear na mauubusan ka na ng shots at pera, hehe. plus you can instantly see what you've shot.

visit www.kenrockwell.com his methods are very practical.

The Nikon D40 is really aimed at newbie photographers naman talaga... It even has an in-camera tutorial mode. Kaya that's his best bet... And with the current price, he can't go wrong... and he doesn't need to buy a new camera if he plans to upgrade. Just new lens, flash, etc... Yun nga lang, mas mahal pa yun kesa sa D40 body... hehehe

as a hobbyist, ang hirap magbigay ng advice sa newbie kung ano bibilhin nya. may point si din din, may point si al, sa point ni all na mag borrow stuffs, yeah ok un pero nakakahiya rin manghiram di ba? especially paglalaruan mo at pagaaralan. pero kung film slr hiniram mo matututo ka naman ng todo. i know photographers na titignan lang nila ung ilaw alam na nila ung metro kasi nasanay sila sa manual na walang meter hehehe.  sa point naman ni din din tama rin kasi mura na lang ang d40 or d70s. dont mind the 6mp resolution din. kasi for me its ok lang to shoot with 6mp. lalo na if ur not going to blow up pictures. kung 8x10 prints swak na swak na. u can never go wrong with the 2. sulit na for its price and quality. and pag magaling ka na, and rumaraket ka na, u can buy a new one and use ur old cam as a back up. winner pa rin. good luck!

i have Canon ixus40 nabili ko ito bnew 2 yrs ago, take lang kasi ako ng take, very accessible sa computer, nagagamit ko yung video nya, pero di pa ako nakapag experiment ng ibang shots maliban sa panorama. gusto ko rin matutunan kung paano yung ang background ay malabo at malinaw yung focus object. paano ba gawin dito yun, personal use lang naman. thanks
