Made In The Philippines Electric Guitar?
« on: February 12, 2018, 04:19:30 PM »
Hi!! Been years since I last visited our lovely country and I want a nicely made Electric Guitar made from our own fellow Pinoys. =)

I think RJ outsources their products to China or last time I heard, guitars are rebadged (that was in 2009-ish) Bacchus perhaps? I've read before that there's this guy making some fine electric guitar from scratch and was reasonably priced around 20K PhP. Forgot his name been ages since I visited this forum...

Does Ari makes his own brand now? LOL. Im outdated.

Anything in Manila? Budget around 500 - 700 bucks.

Thank you po!

I was lucky enough to acquire 2 guitars made by a local luthier, I wasn't the one who had it made tho and just bought it after the original owner got tired of it.

- TeleMaster by Max Rufo (got this for my uncle)
- TeleStrat by MicSis (got this for myself)

if im going to recommend something judging between the 2 guitar's craftsmanship I will suggest you go to MicSis.

your 700 dollars I think is enough. (philmusicians please correct me if im wrong)
imma badass!! <funky guitar rift>

oh yeah, Elegee. That's the name I last remember making some fine instruments. Does he own now a guitar shop that I can visit?

I know he has a "custom" green guitar displayed back in 2006(?) in a Guitar Shop somewhere in Quezon Ave.

Riverhead guitars. Onofre customs, Dnd << are these all in Metro?

I'm more into Strats, Ibby-shape or LPs

for riverhead - you can check freedom music in fb.
onofre also has an fb page - onofre customs
DND - they have a store in QC.

BTW, you can check the micsis thread. You'd see a lot of guitars there.

some updates since you're outdate and a bit of my insight:

-Rj sources from various places, his strats and teles last I checked were from either Korea or China and are  badged or rebadged locally.
-Riverhead comes from the same team/factory of Bacchus.
-I would recommend Micsis for Solid body and also semi-hollow electrics.
-For Acoustics, I have yet to encounter a locally built acoustic that I find worth the money and up to my taste and preference.
-I used to be a fan of Elegee but haven't transacted in over 8 years.
-D&D is good local brand with a decent selection of good quality acoustic guitars, but I think most of what they offer aren't built locally.
D&D has stores in malls now, from what I remember they have the Pasig branch (the warehouse), Glorietta 5 branch, and Mall of Asia branch (NORTH WING of mall)

TO ANSWER YOUR INQUIRY:

With that budget, I would go for either Riverhead (if you want to buy off-the-shelf, but am not sure where and how to source them)

or if you've got the time and patience, I would suggest get a custom from Micsis +639989870619

Really?  What for?

I mean I do not see ANY reason at all for buying a Filipino made guitar other than saying its made in the Philippines.
