hey guys.. i just traded my sansamp gt2 this morning with a friend of mine for a boss ds1 and dd3. i was expecting that the ds1 was a keeley ultra mod, but i was mistaken when i saw the switch was on the opposite side (nasa right) and the led was still red.. so hindi nga keeley. but the dd3 was so friggin mint, it just made my day, though i had doubts about the ds1.. so i drove home, keeping them pedals safe in my bag. (excited!)

when i got to my room, i started setting the new pedals up. i tested the delay first.. hold function.. and the other modes. perfect!

when i got to the ds1, WOOOO!! I WAS BLOWN AWAY. its tone got me. BAM! NAILED! hehe. ANG TABA NG TUNOG. then i experimented with the switch, when it's set to up, less gain, but great tone, tapos pagnaka baba, KILLER AND FATTER TONE. GOD. i can't believe na ds1 sya. kinabit ko kasi siguro sa behringer gdi21 ko, pero naka clean lang yun. eh pc speakers lang gamit ko, so i need a preamp pa rin. anyway, kahit na hindi sya keeley, i'm still happy with the tone i'm getting. now the tone knob doesnt go from muddy to thin.. ngayon, swak lang. i don't know what mod it is eh.. it's got a switch like a keeley, ang keeley kasi di ba blue LED and nasa left yung switch? ayun.. i don't know if bunyok did this. btw, kung may nakakaalam, kay aldrich aguilar of hellbender yung pedal before, he was the one who had it modded. ayun...

so i just realized na tinitimpla ko yung sansamp ko to get that FAT, real distortion tone na may konting touch ng chug. middy dist, with a touch of metal tone. parang ganun, tapos mataba. great definition. AT HUMIHINGA ANG DIST. unlike yung sa super high gain peds na SSZZZHHHH lang yung naririnig, pero ok pang palm mute. i'd go for clarity and definition.. may palm muting power naman sya kahit papano.. nde OA.. at pwde ko naman haluan pa ng fab metal ko or turbo overdrive. i'm a ds1 man pala after all. (I ACTUALLY GOT BACK TO MY ROOTS HEHEHE). ayun. now, i'm not gonna worry of not having an effects loop sa amp pag gig, kasi gnagamit ko na lang yung preamp ko sa clean, not for dist.. at least, mas consistent ang tone. zero ang eq sa amp, sabay naka clean yung gdi ko sa end ng chain ko. wla lang.

my current setup goes like this

gtr>dd3>od2>fab metal>modded ds1>wah>ce5>rv3>gdi21 (fender clean)>amp/speakers.

kay adlrich pala yan dati?? parang di ata tumagal kay aldrich yan kasi di ko nakita siguro natabunan ng vtwin agad or ng jeckyl and hyde nya dati/

nde sya keeley sa pagkakaalam ko kasi iba ang itsura ng keeley ds1.. but m still not sure.. baka yung orig owner, pinadala nya sa states, tapos pina mod nya dun. sa states ata pina mod to eh. pero nde pa rin ako sure. grabe yung switch bro! a different gain and tonal structure ang pinoprovide nya.

Its amazing what such small mods can do. Bunyok does a greaat Keely mod, even up to the LED (in the Keeley mod, the stock red LED is recycled and used as the 2nd clip diode). A very simple Asym clip mode can make a DS-1 sound "glassy-brittle" and clear, almost as if its coming from a tube amp. Near what you described

. Naku, you gotta hear it if it's done on a Tube Screamer (kahit TS7 lang !). Sorry ha, I'm sold on that pedal and will be getting one as soon as my next moolah comes in.

i'll post some clips, pero kelangan ko pang ayusin yung volume output, kasi sa windows recorder lang ako nag rerecord. wla akong program. ano ba ang oks?

hey jeyv! the gdi21's fine. i use it for my clean tone and preamp, para consistent naman kahit papano ang tunog ko. it has also saved me from my last gig, where in the venue lacked an amp, tapos xlr cable lang ang pwde for my connection to the board. grabe. kung walang gdi, magsosolo yung isang gitarista namin sa stage. haha. and it still gets my sansamp gt2 tones (super close, not that exact)

grabe. mahal ko ang ds1. imagine that. babalik din pala ako sa kanya. hahahaha. weird ba to? hehe. by the way, my ds1 is not a keeley mod.. pero gs2 ko makatry ng ultra mod. makakatry lnag ako ng SEM mod sa kabanda ko before... by the way, ano ulit gnagawa nung ultra mode? ano pinagkaiba nya sa SEM mode ulit? thanks.
