Luma na yung shell (10,12,13,16" toms,& 16x22"bass,no snare) at kelangang i-refinish, pero ok pa naman yung mga bearing edges nya.

Old Masters actually.. 6ply 7.5mm 100% Maple Shells! I think they were in production in the 80's pa. Depending on the condition probably, if it's THAT bad. I would just suggest on getting a new kit.
IMO a drumsound consists of..
90% Tuning/Heads/Bearing Edge
10% Drum Shells

It isn't so bad for an entry-level model. Just replace the stock heads with quality Evans or Remo skins. Price seems fair enough, as long as it's in excellent condition.

yung vision ang pangsagot ng pearl sa tama superstar (pareho silang birch + basswood shells, iba lang configuration). kasama ng export custom (6-ply maple, panget hardware) at masters custom (6-ply maple, magandang hardware), ang vision ang pumalit sa session series.

i am currently eyeing for my Pearl project drum set... i just fell in love with pearl even way back 1996... and lately i visited JB music. i wish to get one of the vision series set but compared to the price of the forum set, obviously, the vision looks more gorgeous than the forum.
is it really worth picking the vision over the other? will it really matter if its a 6 ply, 4 ply, whatever ply? 100%, 70% whatever % there is? i know it justifies the price difference of the percentages and plys ek ek but can we/you really specify when listening a song na "aaah, naka 6 ply yan" or "aaah 100% maple ang gamit nyan".
does the model really matter?
i saw on the earlier posts of this thread that the export was highly recommended over the forum but that was way back 2006. i saw an earlier post naman, mga last quarter of 2007 that the forum series is a decent series with ISS na (which i saw personally sa JB) compared to the old forum model (good for us consumers).
im a bit confused coz budget wouldnt really matter if i get the vision. im just wondering coz i could spare the additional cost of buying the forum versus the vision to purchase some good cast cymbals diba? or hardware etc.
i plan to get the good enough decent set and then practice like hell, tune it very well, take good care of it and learn/play like theres no tomorrow and be a good drummer...

Nasa JB Music Park Square ako nung isang araw. Kaka-set-up lang nila nung bagong Pearl Reference drumkit nila. I'm not a fan of gold hardware pero maganda parin itong kit na ito. Astig pa yung design ng boom stands, ang dali mag adjust ng cymbal positions. (Sorry Jonathan, Sir Jerico at Bel parang Pearl endorser na ba ako? JB Music endorser naman din ako eh, haha). 24"-inch yung kick drum. Lupet din nung snare, 20-ply shell. Looks like its around 2 inches thick! Anyway, here are some pix for all you Pearl fans out there. Silipin niyo minsan sa JB Music Park Square.
Dont know much about the 'Reference' series but I do know each shell is made of a combination of different kinds of wood.

1) JB is the exclusive distributor of REMO heads. (AudioPhile is Evans)
2) 14X8 snare is the best for me. (e.g. Lars Ulrich of Metallica uses this).
3) Pearl (maple wood) is good. but Ludwig (Birch wood) is better.
4) Remo head either made in China or USA are the same. Because all heads passes through the SAME Quality test.
I am also looking for a 16" Floor tom. my Pearl Forum is 10/12/14 inches toms. I intend to buy a 16" floortom (Any brand). Message me here or post reply if you have. Thank you.

Wow naman! E bat i-aadvertise ng Pearl na Poplar ang Forum if it's actually made of a "superior" wood such as maple? Diba baliktad na marketing yun, dina-downgrade mo yung products mo? Buti pa kung ina-upgrade (and in the process deceiving the customers) maniniwala pa ko (like pag bumili ka ng alahas, sasabihin sa yo 18K pero 14K lang pala).

Pearl Forum Series Drums are made of 6 ply 7.5mm poplar shells. Even the discontinued and the most sold Pearl drum around the world, the Export series was made of poplar shells. The latest edition of the Pearl Forum Series, Forum FZ are still made of poplar shells. Recent upgrades with this kit are just the 'ISS' for both 12'' and 13'' toms which was acquired from the late export series, an additonal C70W cymbal stand for the additonal Pearl crash cymbal(previous forum series only has a boomstand B70W to hold a pearl crash/ride cymbal) and the drum pedal which was upgraded from P-120 to P-120P.

Sir, might as well get the H900 hihat stand. Its more sturdy than the H72W. It also has a rotating base which is suitable for double pedal users out there. Though Im not sure if JB sells or orders this hardware separately with the Pearl Vision Series drums. The last time I asked Yupangco when they were still the distributors of Pearl about the price of the H72W, it was around 3200 with a lousy 10% discount. Im not sure how much it would cost today but definitely the H900 hihat stand would cost more. Roughly 5k up.

If I'm not mistaken, magkakasabay dumating yun. Actually pati yung Masters Premium naka-gold hardware. I don't know why they decided to go with gold. :-D Pero with certain finishes, astig ang gold, matching talaga, like for example yung Antique Sunburst at yung Antique Gold (syempre). Chrome hardware is sort of generic and works with any color. Yung mga MCX lang na dumating ang chrome hardware. Available colors are (lacquers:) Chesnut Fade, Black Sparkle Fade, Orange Sparkle Fade and (covered:) Red Glass, Diamond Glitter (bago to, kalalabas lang nung NAMM 08), & Bronze Glass. Tanong tanong ka sa JB (regarding availability and price). And then buy the ultimate kit for yourself! :evil:
Im not sure if JB is already selling this but from the looks of it, price tag would be similar to a B1000 boom stand(5k-6k). You can ask people from JB if you can request for specific items from their next order or shipment from Pearl then request this item to be ordered especially for you. Yupangco use to do that before if they dont have the items in stores though it may take some time for it to arrive.

Air Suspension feet (part# R-40/3) allows your floor tom to rest on a cushion of air. These large rubber feet prevent premature sound decay from floor contact. Also, for those Pearl owners planning to install Pearl's ISS with their toms, you need masking plates to cover up those holes after removing the tom brackets(BT-3 or BT-70) from the toms. Pearl has also created masking plates, part# GK-90 that you can install to cover up those 3 small holes (inside and out) where three small screws were originally located and 1 big hole where the tom bracket was originally attached. Sorry I cant find a better picture of the masking plates. :-)

Does it need to be Pearl? Cause if not, JB has some nice Gretsch Catalina Maples in 6-piece configurations. I think the only 6-pc Pearl sets JB has are a few (as in, limited) Forum sets.

Nakabili na ako ng pedal, 2nd hand lang... 3.2K... May 2 extra cam na kasama wala nga lang alen wrench... :-( at local na drum key kasama... pero ok na rin... Probelma ko lang yugn rubber don sa foot borad unang gamit ko pa lang nalusaw na, as in natunaw at kumalat siya sa pedal board, tsk tsk tsk... Meron po bang nabibili nung rubber? Saan meron at magkano kaya? Nagtanong ako sa JB sa MOA wala sila eh... Yung cam lang meron 250 isa... Balak kung bumili ng lahat ng size... Yung alen wala daw sila, bumili na lang ako sa ACE. Buti na lang sa ACE ako bumili kasi yung sa pedal 2 size pala ng alen ang kailangan ayun sulit namin yung nabili ko. Naadjust ko na rin ng tama yung pedal kasi wala sa alignment nung una...
By the way, ano po ba ang epekto ng pagpalit ng cam? Napansin ko lang kasi eh yung nagbvabago yung bigat sa paa, mas maiksi mas mgaan ang feel... Tama po ba observation ko?

Yours is 3.2k. No bag, kulang Cams, Walang allen, Cheapo Key. Hhhmmm 2k difference is not a big diff considering an daming kulang ng sayo tapos tunaw pa yung goma sa ilalim w/c i think wala namang nabibile nyan ever.

Friend ko na export series same issues sa tom arms. Ewan ko lang sa ibang parts. Btw 90's forum and export ang mga drums namin.. I hope pearl improved their products now. Ang malaking tanong dito is will they make much more noise compared to mesh/rubber pads that Roland/Yamaha are using considering brass yung mga cymbals. One of the major reasons in buying an electronic drum is so that you can practice quietly.

optimounts is the best way to go IMO! pangit talaga ISS, hindi balanced ang weight distribution pagdating sa mounting kaya tendency hindi pantay yung tension sa head.

Don't believe the hype bro. Have tried at tom lee and for me,this does not even comes close to Roland. It's acoustically noisier and the cymbal triggers are similar to plastic medelis. The drum module's sounds are ok but not special

Sir, FYI, ingat na lang na ma-loose thread yung mga screws. Yan ang pinaka-reklamo ng mga gumagamit ng Pearl Elims eh. Every now and then screw. Nagagalaw kasi lagi. Tsaka hassle kasi minsan nasa gitna ng gig biglang mawawala sa ayos dahil sa screws na natanggal o lumuwag.
Sooner or later if you want to upgrade your peds, try Pearl Demon Drive. The best! Highly recommended. Sobrang panalo! Ang galing nung nag-engineer ng pedal. So far wala pa kong nakikita o nababasang mga reklamo sa Demon Drive. Kahit ako mismo di pa nakaka-experience ng sablay moments sa Demon Drive ko.

about sa pearl DD, wlang bilib lang ako sa beater niya, kasi pangit talaga pero ung over all niya solid. the fact that you can turn it into a long board actually saves your money a lot kesa sa bumili ka pa ng bagong peds para lang sa long board. pero kung ako bibili ng pearl DD siguro ung beater palitan ko ng sonic hammer ng axis, meron nmn nabibili nun na separate.

i think ang target ng pearl sa e-pro e yung gusto mag try ng electric na naiilang sa masyadong maliit na pads ng conventional e-drums. sinadya nila talagang ganun ang size para hindi ganun kalaki yung adjustment sa pagswitch from acoustic to electric.
btw, meron na ba sa jb music nito? we're planning on getting one for our church kaso gusto muna namin masubukan, as peeves said, magaling ang hype machine ng pearl so maganda masubukan muna.

Kung Pearl Powershifter Eliminator (un boxed with free traveling case) dalawa lang yan:
the "C" and the "2" on the P2002C model means it is a BELT DRIVE DOUBLE PEDAL.
the "B" and the "2" on the P2002B model means it is a CHAIN DRIVE DOUBLE PEDAL.
pag may nakita ka namang "L" like for an example P2002CL -It's a double pedal but for lefties
Sa pagkakaalam ko lang sa mga models that you stated:
P2000 = Part ng Powershifter Eliminator series pero SINGLE pedal lang
P2001 = There's no such thing :-D
P2002 = Part ng Powershifter Eliminator series and all of them are double pedals dahil nga may "2"
Guess ko lang na ang hanap mo ay double pedals ng Pearl Eliminators, dalawa lang pagpipilian mo, either na un P2002B or P2002C, for short, BELT or CHAIN drive. I can't suggest kung ano dahil parang spring tension lang to ng pedal mismo which is 100% personal.
But a lot are using chains in general. I use a belt drive though :-)

"C"= chain drive

Lang yah kainggit kayo!.... Jurasic na pala ang kit ko sa bahay ng parents ko.... Pearl Export Series na 80's pa ata yun... Rusty and Tangal na yung mga Chrome paint nya... But it's still the best sounding drum I've ever configured on my own... Sana makabili na ng bagong Pearl na drums, kahit na yung Junior or Travel Series lang... haay pera... nasan ka na!
why buy a new one when you could settle for the best.. which is exactly what you have right there. Ikaw na din nagsabi, it's the best drums you configured on your own. I too have a pearl export set (EX model to be exact) and I won't give it up for anything else. like you, it's the best drumset I configured on my own. ang pagmamahal sa pagtatambol beyond yan sa kung anong make or model ng set mo. mahalaga kung masaya ka sa set mo, bago man o luma, sira man or ayos. kung sira na yung ibang piyesa ng export mo, madaling bumili ng spare parts. marami nang nagbebenta ngayon di gaya noon. hindi madaling mag-maintain ng set overall THOUGH masaya at rewarding naman. I suggest keep your set, maintain it and post it sa let's see those kit's thread! good luck! :mrgreen:

You have a point there about the hoops sir peeves, curious lang kasi ako kung pearl and kung naglabas ng flange and die cast hoop combination sa sensitone...
I have no idea on the cost of chroming, mahal ba? lagpas ba ng 1k for the hoops and lugs?
and about the lever, wala ngang stud or knob yung lever, takes some effort to engage/disengage pag wala e...I read in the thread I shared above that some users were complaining about the stud making a rattling noise, so baka tinanggal ng previous owner, anyway I think I can live with the lacking stud...

I also found that weird, yung flange at die cast na combo. the previous owner must have used it that way, and just decided to sell it as is.
If that's the case it's a nice modification sir, galing ng naisip nya hehe...parang stewart copeland snare na nga e, di ko lang talaga ma take yung pinintahan....

definitely not powder coated, more of spray painted sir...kung kaya din naman ng budget I'll go ahead with chroming...dark chrome looks nice, actually ang naiisip ko brass plating sa lugs and throw-off and chrome sa hoops, they don't give justice kasi dun sa shell, which is in pristine condition

snare hoop na kasi talaga yun, yung type pa na may snare guard...can't do anything about it unless i get a die cast batter hoop also...pero ok na muna siguro
Mas prefer ko yung DIE-CAST hoop sa ibabaw, then TRIPLE-FLANGE ilalim. May nabibili sa JB Pearl Flange Hoops. Pero di ko alam kung pwede isa piraso.

Sir may bagong Pearl Roadshow kame, pero concern lang ako sa pagset up ng drummer namen sa church kasi binaligtad yung isang tom holder para lower ang 2nd tom. Ok lang po ang ganitong set up? Or ibalik nalang namen sa traditional set up.

Bhovoi, marameng alam sa specs, qualities and technicalities sina Ralph_Petrucci at Harugrugrug pagdating sa drums. I for one, would also choose Roadshow. Fusion sizes(10, 12, 14, 16, 22) is way better than the standard size IMO. Totoong 10'' Toms sings with perfect amount of resonance and attack.

it's my only cymbal, aside from the hats of course. goes well with my paiste alpha medium hats. chopsuey talaga kit ko. wala ako brand loyalty.Alpha sounds good too! take care of those "Babies"

still has 10" toms. poplar shells though, dunno if that's a good or bad thing. pero wood hoops sa kick drum & comes stock with 900 series hardware. chinese remos. pero maganda yun black sparkle wrap, di lang kita sa over-processed peechures.
OT: the low volume zildjians work well for low volume practice. well sana magka-oras ako para matuto na ko mag-drums.

BTT, I have a pearl target (hindi jr), and having a hard time tuning 12 and 13 toms.. siguro dahil di ko makuha yung gusto kong tunog na malalim na mataas.. baka dahil 10" dapat ang bagay sa pandinig ko.. any advise kung pano easy approach sa pag tune.. Gusto ko sanang tunog hindi masyadong ma ugong pero malutong na mejo high

that's sad naman bro! did you get the hearing test done? had mine tested before & i did start to lose hearin a bit of the higher frequencies on my right ear. pero that was the time all i played was electric guitar. i also just dimed the amp for all the glorious distortion! but i used to gig back then. nagpapalakasan kami ng banda. pero ngayon puro low volume na lang guitar amps ko. from 15 -30 tube watts lang.

Saw a fireceacker snare sa jb. Any good? Most reviews say it sucks cause of the cheap wood used. Poplar daw. Pero slam mo naman mga amerikano, masyado mataas ang istandards nila.
I like the crack of my small snares. May gamit siya for certain stuff, like my 10" hats. Just curious how it would mesh with my full kit. Or baka parehas lang halos ng midtown snare ko. Or even my son's ludwig mini kit.
its cheap and usable. 11 or 12 years ago yata nung nauso ganyang tunog hehehe tipong rap metal at halos lahat sa gig ganyan gamit. i liked it before. ewan ko lang ngayon.
