A Rock-alternative group based in Las Pinas City, the band started out as a jam band since 2001. Founding members and then Highschool classmates Emman, Alvin and Harold used to jam at Alvin’s place and do covers from their favorites – Eraserheads, Smashing Pumpkins, Beatles, and others to name a few. The current line-up was formed in 2003 when the boys decided to join a College-sponsored Batlle of the Bands in Emman’s school. Fortunately, as the three were looking for a bassist, Kampay, whom also one of their classmates asked them if he could jam with them – Bingo, and everything fell into place.
The group went through name changes, and ended up with the current one. The name was taken from the vocalist’s e-mail add, which was also a title of a Spanish Literature they’ve encountered during their Literature class in High school which none of them had ever read.
The Elcids relates to their music as a type of melody they’d prefer to play rather than to explain what’s really in it. It displays the fusion of each member’s influence ranging from Progressive, Metal, Classic, Alternative, Grunge and of course OPM.
