ahead...

branded wood sticks cost 500 up...so naka 3k kana, sa ahead 1800 palang nagagastos mo...

parang may kakahuyan tuloy ako sa likod ng drum set

Ahead talaga, papalit-palit ka lang ng taper worth 200 against sa price ng branded na drumstick like Pro-Mark the worth 400+... un nga lang iba ung feel plus para sakin matalbog siya kaya pag mag fifill-in eh medyo nahihirapan ako pag hindi straight singles...

pwede din Carbosticks, yan yung gamit namin sa church, tumagal ng lampas isang taon, we have one service on fridays, band practice pag saturdays the 3 services pag sundays and isang pair lang gamit namin throughout that period, although bumili kase ng zildjian jazz as backup. yun hanggang nagsawa yung mga drummers namin sa sticks. haven't tried ahead though, we're planning on using it this year kase after the carbosticks balik zildjian kame, kaso paubos na yung 6 pairs na binili namin (yung may free cymbals), not really practical mag wood sticks sa simbahan namin, masyado magastos (the church pays for the sticks kaya gusto namin yung sulit talaga)

Title: Re: Long lasting drumstick??
Post by: killikillers on April 29, 2010, 11:33:27 PM

Ahead is awesome man. =)

Pero I do love the wood sound. So I stick with wood sticks. I play jazz and soul kasi.
Pero If you dont mind the slightly different sound. Then Go for ahead.

A student of his who happens to be a friend told me) 250php
Nova sticks - 250 php

And the Promark Millennium II series sticks - Its Super tough, I bought one in 2007 and I still use them today. hahaha. Take note, It still looks good and feels good. These are kinda heavy on the pocket.

Piliin mo lang ung stick. Make sure the weight is good and the grain is straight. wala nung mga bilog bilog. Tapos tap test mo. pag maganda ung feel (you will feel a weak stick, pag hindi maganda ung vibrations). It will last you if you use it properly.

hope this helps  :-)

+1 sa Lazer and Nova. One of my Lazer 8A pairs lasted for almost two years.
Sa ngayon, 3 months old pa lang ang dalawang Vic Firth AS8D ko, so wala pa ako masasabi.

Electric tape doesn't give you much grip dude. your better off with the bare stick lang.
Table tennis grip tapes work as good as the commercial grip tape

Depende yan sa pumapalo... kahet Ahead ang gamitin mo... pag mali ang pinampalo mo (e.g. you used its butt for hitting..) masisira din yan...  Kahet wooden sticks yan basta nasa control ang pag palo mo tatagal yan...

Or try Vater's RAW series. Magaspang for us with grip issues. I have the Super 2B. It has stayed over a year now. Pinahiram ko pa kay Ian ng Arkadia. Akala ko mapuputol niya, but no.

basta kung sa grip sng issues mo, dont use zildjian, kasi yung coating nun eh majo makapal kaya mejo dudulas pag pawis yung kamay. Try using Pro-mark kasi manipis lang coating niya so hindi masyadong madulas.

and yeah those tennis or bike grip tapes helps for keeping the stick on your sweaty hands yet
the stick do loose some bouncing characteristics which is not really needed since your bashing away playing this noisy songs hehe! syempre pag jazz maganda raw sticks tlga.

so in my experience there's no real long lasting sticks especially in the rock arena. better have long lasting hands and ears!

kung wood stick, ill go for any Japanese Oak Promark... Sobrang tibay at ang sarap ipalo...

For artificials, syempre AHEAD... mabigat nga lang... Panu mahirap ng palitan... up for keeps nalang un... hehehehe...

I used Zildjian Mike Mangini signature stick before. Gawa sa birch... It's a good one.

Now I am using a Vic Firth Matt Cameron sig. It has better feel kesa sa M.Mangini pero mas matagal lang mabali yung M.Mangini.. hehe

Btw, have you heard about Silverfox na brand ng drumsticks? :-S

I'd go to vater drumsticks too.  :-D kahit ilang rimshots pa yan, di ganun kadali masira.

Tama, wala sa drumstick yan. nasa drummer parin! hehe. gumagamit ako ng mga mumurahin dati pero tumatagal naman sya. make sure na may natututunan kang right stroke sa bawat napuputol mo na drumstick.  :-D
