-clutch play
-proper gear shifting
-hanging
-vehicle size knowledge
-defensive driving in general

Hyundai shows off more photos of the all-new Accent

It's been a while since we've seen anything new regarding the PH-spec Hyundai Accent. The subcompact, a staple on city roads here, received a slight upgrade back in 2014. Since then, Japanese competitors like the Toyota Vios, Mazda 2, and Honda City have upped their games, while the market waited patiently for more from one of the Korean carmaker's most prominent models.

Earlier this year, the all-new Accent broke cover at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. The fifth-gen vehicle was bigger, much more stylish, and more capable than its predecessor on paper. No word on a hatchback version or diesel engine, but it was already enough to have us wanting more.

Thankfully, the company released more images of the sedan together with its US debut at the Orange County International Auto Show. It's a better look at Hyundai's new 'cascading' grille design and the Accent's sleeker, more sculpted exterior look. We've already talked about the changes to the car's structure and performance here.

DTI unit clears Montero of technical defects

A unit of the Trade Department did not find any technical defects on the automatic transmission units of Montero Sport released between 2010 and 2015, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said Wednesday.

Lopez said based on the latest technical findings, the department would practice fair judgement on the case filed by a group of Mitsubishi Montero owners on the so-called “sudden unintended acceleration.” Lopez said the Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau, through a technical analysis, found out there was no basis for the so-called SUA case filed by a group of Montero owners against Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp.

Shell stations to offer charging for electric vehicles

Lack of charging equipment is one of the main reasons for the slow uptake of electric vehicles in the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines – Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will install the first 100 electric vehicle fast-charging stations in its gasoline stations across Metro Manila, in a bid to encourage the adoption of zero-emission vehicles.

The listed oil refiner told the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Tuesday, October 10, that it signed a memorandum of agreement with QEV Philippines – a joint venture between the Philippines' Endika Aboitiz and Spain's Enrique Bańuelos – for the deployment of the first electric vehicle fast-charging infrastructure network in the country.

Coming soon? Cars with only a driver may be banned on EDSA

MANILA - Cars with only a driver may not be allowed to ply EDSA, should a proposal for car pooling be approved by next year.

In a meeting with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Tuesday, 17 mayors of Metro Manila agreed to study all the proposals being made by all sectors to reduce EDSA traffic but car pooling appeared to be the best option so far.

If there are three passengers in a car, the number coding is lifted, and the vehicle can pass EDSA at any time and at any day.
