Standing Room this summer
Standing Room, an alliance of bands, is set to stage bar tours this April to kick off their summer extravaganza. Expect an open platform for hardcore, reggae, ska, punk, jazz, rockabilly even hip hop and funk.
The alliance will run dates this summer at the Verve Room (April 4, May 2 & June 6), Freedom Bar (April 11, May 9 & June 13), Amoeba in Eastwood (April 18, May 16 & June 20) and Mayric’s (April 25, May 23 & June 27) featuring The Brownbeat Allstars, Moyg, Goo, Neighbors, Skychurch and Badburn.
Also invited to join the summer tour are Kapatid, a funk/reggae band with Karl Roy on vocals, hardcore band DNYD, Camote Chunks (rockabilly), Crab Nebula (Funk), Heal (80's Rock, Police and U2 covers), hip hop group Caliph8, a new skool hardcore band Loss of Control, BING! (lounge/ska/reggae), and jazz group WDOUJI.
The original motivation for forming the alliance was so to create an alternative opportunity since the industry currently does not permit it and provide a friendly platform for any bands to share their music and get exposure where genre is not an issue.
“Skarlet”, the woman behind the production, also managed to score an out-of-town gig this summer in Café Sn. Luis, Baguio City. Scheduled to perform on April 13 will be Badburn and MOYG; on May 11, Brownbeat Allstars and Goo; and on June 8, Neighbors and Skychurch.
A donation box will also be situated at the gate. Everyone is encouraged to bring toiletries and/or school supplies for the Manila Boys Town Complex.
