Tapos join jams.

Tagal ko na may harmonica, and still trying to learn, but until now I think I'm still in the early stage of learning.  How did you get pass such stage? I know it requires practice and perseverance.  My question I guess is geared towards your practice habits, song choices to begin with, video lessons you took/plan to take, teacher if you have any, etc.  Please share, appreciate the help.

Keep on blowing? :-D

China made harps are around 70-200 pesos.
Hohner harps may be around 700-1000 pesos.

Hi fellow harp players,

I got a problem with my harp: 5th-hole draw reed doesn't work (ie. no sound). Any suggestions on how to make this work before I "operate" my harp?

Cheers!

Hehehe. Dapat kasi harp makers send extra 5 hole draw reeds. I have 2 harps with flat 5 hole draws. Sinubukan kong i-tune by filing the tip and checking with a chromatic tuner. One worked but the other one needs a replacement.

The plan is to open the harp, look what the reed looks like and try to pretend I know something about fixing the reed. One day I was playing it, the next day it was dead!

Hehehe! Yup no plans on throwing this harp away bro! Bad news is, I need this harp on sat.

There is a thread about 'Ron's Harp workshop somewhere.
I hope he conducts it again para dumami ang harp players.
We are all waiting for Deltaslim's speedy recovery. He and Ron set up the workshop before.

Nope. I was trying to fix that harp - that was the harp i was talking about in my previous posts. I pushed the reed too hard and alas! it broke!

Hi, I think merong nagcoconduct ng harp lessons na taga Philmusic din, I suggest you start focusing on playing cross-harp. Anyway, C would be a good harp to start with -  you'd be jamming with a G-rooted song. And if you're getting a suzuki, get a Blues Master, never a Folk Master.

I have used a couple of Folkmasters. Ok naman sya out of the box, considering the price. Madali nga i-bend. I have a set of five na reserba C,G,D,A,Bb.

Just play Key A songs muna.

That's the only way to learn harp. No pain no gain man!

Anyway, if it's of any help, you might want to check out Adam Gussow's online harp lessons in youtube - helped me a lot. Cheers!
