drumhead noobie question

i hope tama ang pag-post ko. plano ko na magpalit ng drumheads, lahat na sana. ano ba ang tinitignan or hinahanap sa drumhead? are they all the same pero iba ung color and texture? meron ba silang certain applications? my application is practice sa bahay with occasional jamming. rock / alternative ang tugtog. sorry for the stupid question. maraming salamat
