I have a question tho, paano bubuhayin ang final mix?

i compared my mixdown to a friends version. this friend of mine works in a real studio talaga. we both used Logic to mix it, pero yung sa kanya "buhay na buhay." meaning, litaw lahat ng instruments at voice, pero di nagpepeak :|

teach me masterzzz </3

There's this little adage between engineers,"what comes in the record goes out the record".

I guess it has something to do with the recording process itself, some quality hardware will definitely make a ton of difference. I know its the dawn of the DIY recordings but still there is this air of magic inside a real studio that breaths life to records.

Here's some vid from Pete Thorn(I'm a sucker for his tone) with some recording tips for guitarist.

@BoxedKing

nangttrip lang eh no =)) para kunwari tone is in the engineer, pero nasa equipment pala =))

hindi nga, and it took a 4k worth pair of cans to bring out the nuances of the record, at feeling ko kung idaan mo sa monitors mo papangit din :-(

Baka yung housing AT2020 tapos naka Neumann pala

magkano yung VST mo?

I guess it has its place, especially for home recording, but I imagine di ba parang kulang sa "air"?

no not really. yun nga yung point ng iso cab eh. kasi you want the natural sounding speaker at low volumes.

Questions lang regarding sa recording.

Gusto ko kasi sana magtry na gamitin both channels ng 2i4 at the same time to record a mic'ed amp. Isang dynamic upfront at isang condenser as a room mic.

Thanks in advance guys!!

Yes! Pwede. :)

Kung same lang ang platform ng Scarlett 2i4 at 2i2 (I have the 2i2), ganito pwede mong gawin.. Use an XLR cable for your condenser mic, then yuse a 1/4" PL cable for your dynamic mic. The Scarlett only sends the phantom power via XLR, not via 1/4"..

Natry ko na yan dati eh.. Nagtataka ako bakit laging may kakaibang noise pag nagrerecord ako ng sabay yung dynamic at condenser. Every few seconds merong noise na parang ginugusot na papel. Later on, I found out na dahil pala yung dynamic mic ko ay connected sa 2i2 via XLR cable.. Hehe..

Tumingin ako ng mga articles online, at ang common consensus eh okay lang daw magsaksak ng dynamic kahit naka-on yun phantom power so good to go pala kami.

For mic cable, 1/4" na mono will do.

Kaya merona kong dalawang tig 10ft na cable from my 2i2 papunta sa monitors. :)

Try panning your rhythm tracks, one to the left and the other to the right. Track them separately. That way, you'll have space for your lead guitars. It'll also add depth and dimension to your mix.
