what makes a good performance?
« on: July 06, 2007, 08:03:01 PM »

thanks!  :-D

Like what I often say...  Maganda man ang gamit o hinde, nasa gumagamit pa rin yan.  8-)

To put it in a simpler way, it's how you own the kit not how the kit owns you. If you are being owned by the kit during a gig, expect the worst. Usually kasi ang dinadala lang sa gig either cymbals, pedals and snares para at least kahit na swangit yung kit, you can still own it. And I believe it puts a distinguishing sound to your drumming if you bring your own kits. Parang thumbmark mo na yun....

I agree.

However a drummer is limited by the quality of instrument he is playing, that limitation should be viewed as a challenge rather than excuse for poor performance. :-)

for a good performance, the drummer has to be skilled and has a lot of showmanship. it doesn't matter on how good your set is, or how numerous your cymbals could be (but everyone knows that lots of cymbals capture the audience's eye :-D). nasa tumutugtog yan..

it's on the drummer.. kung pano ka makipagcommunicate with the crowd...

For me talking about Good performance is quite jargon. Equipment and skills are required if we are longing for Good performance. like Danny Carey and other pro drummers equipment is a must in playing their stuff and we all know that being a Drummer is very expensive. but there's some drummers play with the equipment na "ok na".like "Bagets" I watched him several times with Pido in Off the Grill every Thursday playing not so good equipments but definitely doing not Good but "Great" performance. And this is the time when we say "nasa gumagamit lang yan".

Yes, that's true! But we all know who we are and we are not like bagets and other pro drummers that need not high end quality equipments to have a good performance. But we are trying to and definitely "magiging ganon din". and for me both performance and equipments will do. To make jobs easier and cool!...hope that helps.... :-D
