siguro ang ayaw ko yung ma treble or too much presence na tipong "magalas" na pakinggan,. yung tone ni PG sa intense rock diko masyado trip, magalas talaga

yung kay dime naman ok pa saken, bigat eh,justifiable na for me ang too much highs sa case niya,. :-)

i like vai's tone para kasing nagsasalita na yung guitar (try "whispering a prayer"),though minsan sobrang masabaw na sa reverb lalo na sa mga guitar ballads IMO

shawn lane yan sakto saken! haha

Hindi naman venerated so much, pero for me, 'di ko trip yung tone ni Kirk Hammett. ("Hate" is indeed a strong word...)

I don't "hate" - pero I don't like either: John Petrucci.  Well baka mahina lang tenga ko... pero parang pare pareho sila ng tunog nila Steve Vai at Joe Sat nung G3 nila.

that dude from Firehouse who's name seems to escape me just now...

and Paul Gilbert's tone from his solo albums
ako din. i dont like a lot of those 80s hair metal tones kasi they always seemed to have a hint of chorusing going on. awesome guitar players for sure but the tones lacked balls.

paul gilbert's tone from the first few mr. big albums was sort of like that din.

i think i dont like most of hendrix's recorded tones too. but, hey, thats jimi. he transcends tone.

i dont get why people rave over joe perry's tone. angus young, i get. slash, yes din. bluesbreakers era clapton, yes. joe perry, vintage or modern, di ko gets.

Sapul!  Actually I read an article of his (Metal Up and say WAH) and he said that he loves the wah so much he needs 5 of them on stage so he can easily access one during a solo.  He even mentioned he will lie on his coffin with a wah on his foot. :D

Tumatatak kasi sakin ung for the love of God eh. Parang ang payat pakinggan para sakin. Thats just me
i think yung stripped down tones all over ALS were vai's best ones. I'm not a fan of super high gain tones (not anymore anyway) but IF i had to dial in one, I almost always try to cop on off ALS.

mark tremonti has a huge tone, but his solos, to me, sounds whimpy.

I love his solos on Alter Bridge's debut album...yung tone lang sumabit for me.

One Day Remains album?  Have a listen at Blackbird, medyo iba yung recording setup ng lead tones nya.  But then again, he's not a mid-heavy lead player as he's going for the edgy lead sounds, so I understand it will no doubt come across as weak and thin to some.   (read the story of his first signature PRS, the one where he sent back a McCarty, you can see what he's going for generally tone-wise)

I think Myles (the singer/co-guitarist) complements what he's lacking in tone.  Big beefy mids and also a much dynamic player than Mark IMO.  Sa Blackbird album pa lang sya nag-contribute sa guitars.

Tsaka adik din sa wah yang hayup na yan (MT).   :-D  Same way kirk hammett is incurable.

yung tone ni petrucci ngayon.. mas hinahanap ko ung awake studio album session nila. like mind beside itself.
dahil na din siguro sa Ibby RG gamit nya, though maganda naman talaga yung ernie ball guitar na model nya. miss ko na talaga yung tone nya dati..
Kunyari may maganda kang nabasa dito... yun ang signature ko. ^_^

actually both, mas gusto ko kasi rhythm tone ni Scott Ian (Anthrax).

pero may particular Metallica songs na acceptable for me yung lead tone ni Kirk, yung tipong bagay sa theme/tempo nung kanta (e.g. "Battery"). :)

tony macalpine's shrapnel years album. masyadong ma reverb. pero syempre yung skill galing.

EJ's tone is i think great. needs a lot of precision on the player's part kung hindi huling huli mga sabit

Petrucci's low gain tone is one of the best settings ( listen to 'the truth' evening with rudess and petrucci)

steve vai too much gain pero na bbigyan niya naman ng justification hehehe

Gah.  Me too.  Super sssmooooth.  Pero yung early tones nya, ayos for me.  He had some grit going on, and his tone there wasn't so compressed.  Recently though, he seemed to be moving towards those raw tones again.

wow.... didn't realize that quite a few people here don't dig Vai's tone. While I agree that some songs sound very processed, justifiable naman... he likes weird sounds eh. Pero kung medyo steady lang... his tone in Tender Surrender is the shiz!

Ako naman... as much as I love Extreme's Pornagraffiti! I think Nuno's tone on the album could use a little more meat on it.  Loved his tone on Waiting for the Punchline though.  :-)

Also, +1000 on Dave Mustaine's tone in general, I do not like it at all.  Imagine how much better Countdown to Extinction would be if it had half the heaviness of the rhythm guitars on Metallica's Black Album.
