sm-57/58 for voice recording
« on: November 12, 2008, 10:05:05 AM »
i have this small studio set-up at home. right now, i'm just using an sm-57 as a mic.

for voice recording, would there be any OBVIOUS DIFFERENCE if i use an sm-58? or should i just i just stick to my sm-57, for now?

thanks!

Shre SM58 will give your voice recordings HUGE difference (for the better) vs the Sm57 which is very good for instrument recordings.

John Lennon's favorite recording mic is an SM57.  If I am not mistaken, "Starting Over" was recorded using that type of mic.

Yung mga sinaunang SM57 looks lexactly like the SM58... i know SOME people from THAT companY ( sa Pro Audio Dept. ), before didn't believe me, that there was SM57 model... until dinala ko sa OFFICE NA YUN yung SM57 ko... and they believed...

SM57s today look different...

i've also heard feedbacks na ok din naman nga daw for voice ang sm57. that's why naisip ko na baka di ko masyado "maramdaman" na better ang sm58. and sayang ang pera if i ever decide to get one. hehe...

thanks for the replies. :-)

very interesting topic. i tried removing the grill of my sm58 to record an acoustic guitar. halos pareho lang din. so i guess the differences are very sublte.
