just listened to the whole Battle Studies -- both in the car and at home. sad songs, true. they bring out the spirit of the blues. and they're all so good on the ears. i can imagine cruising along NLEX/SCTEX with a convertible with the top down at dusk. very relaxing and contemplative. JM has done it again -- reinvent himself.
Behringer BO-100 Blues Overdrive
Compressor from Cacophony
ShredHead from MarkV SD-1 from MaxiMusikero & my significant udder more to come! :D RIGHTEOUS GAS!!!

Battle Studies shows his talent in writing Lyrics....you know, the words?  :-P

His chord progressions are much more down to earth on this album. Kaya it is so memorable...galing!

personal fave ko from this album...half of my heart, perfectly lonely, friends-lovers or nothing.... :-D
guitarist telling the drummer what the intro to laklak was. caught on video.at binilangan pa ang drummer 1-2...1-2-3..lol

the album also sounds like the 80's. specially the rhythm and how the solos are executed. kinda reminds me of a Mister Mister and like a Level 42 way of melody changing and more 80's artists which i cant recall now, hehehe... but it worked!

"Heartbreak Warfare" (from Battle Studies) reminds me of "Back To You". This is actually the side of John Mayer that I like. And that lead guitar tone is "sweet and creamy".

besides that he also is a factor in my Blues influence like most of us, he also made me look at the Blues in a different way.. just watch him play the Blues and you'll see..
