Ohemgeeeee! Hehe, kaya pala binalikan ni peeves yung starphonic! Hehe! Pero I'm ok with my snares,I don't want to let go of the starphonic pero it's not my sound,I'm down to 3 snares.
Masterworks,Joey sig and Paolo vivas custom snare, hehe

Masterworks is my new baby, hehe. :cute:
Joey is my high pitched snare
And the custom snare is my gigging snare.
The last snare is black beauty, nagaabang lang ko,heheeeee

Sir maganda na snares mo. Those are the ''essentials" so to speak. Isang Birch, great for recording purposes. Isang Maple, great for live gig situations. Try to get some Brass shell not just a Steel made shell. One of the greats din yon like the Black Beauty and the Pork Pie Bob. You're on the right track sir. Tama rin yang naiisip mo na kahit isang Piccolo. Not necessarily a 14x3 or 13x3 but atleast 13x7 or 13x5 will do.

anong music tinutugtog mo? asking for a snare recommendation like that will cost you a lot of money and frustration. kasi lahat kami dito sulsul-tant at mahilig kami magbigay ng unsolicited sulsultation.

snares are a very personal choice, ask yourself, do they (your snares) represent who you are? kasi kahit gano karami naman snare mo, may isa o dalawa ka lang din na palaging babalikan dyan kasi yun yung naririnig mo sa ulo mo at yun yung sa tingin mo e tunog mo.

and then one day, you realize nagbago na yung taste mo at hindi na yung sound na yun ang hanap mo ngayon kaya maghahanap ka na naman ng bago mong representative snare.

this happened to me 5 times already and i have 4 snares from each era. more than 5 snares na ko noon pero binenta ko yung mga weak snares. some are just better than others so i dont need to keep everyone.

thanks sirs for the info...i got stuck at 2 snares (BTW tama stock superstar snare and classic maple SLP), matagal nakong tumitingin tingin at nag iisip ng pangatlo pero di ako makadecide, I wanted it to be a wise acquisition next to the SLP, but I'm leaning towards a metal snare...sir musicianurse your advice about brass is noted, any particular reason why?...if that's the case stewart copeland custom...almost snatched one at Lee HK kaso nagdalawang isip ako  or ludwig supra kaso malabo makakita ng 60-70's era... aaarrghh

sir peeves is right, the snare is a personal choice, parang more than cymbals pa nga...sir peeves you can make an autobiography by just using all of those snares of yours haha :-D

I try to play anything that interests me pero most of them are pop-rock/alternative/indie.

Kahit hindi specific I'll consider all of your inputs and I'll be happy dahil madami akong natututunan sa pagbabasa dito.  :cute:

What do you mean bro?

Tama si harugrugrug, tighten the batter head of the snare. Use Remo Ambassador or Evans G1. Tighten it in a sense na alam mong may lutong na siya, but not to the point na mapupunit na siya in contrary to the bearing edge. You can use Evans Genera Dry as well. Bottom head naman use Evans Hazy 300, tighten it as well. Ingat lang. Manipis talaga ito. Baka mapunit bigla ang bagong bili. Then snare wires, saktong pihit lang. Baka ma-choke ang tunog. Good luck!

Ahh,you have a brass snare, mejo mellow siya ng Bakal like aluminum, hehe,Kung gusto mo steel snare yun yung punong puno ng overtones, for wood type, maple and birch pagpipilian mo na most common.
Mas mellow naman sila, the shorter the snare,I mean the piccolo type, dry ang sound niya, short yung sustain, pag mas malalim, mas may dating yung snare mo,mas May presence.

Hehe

Anyway, search funky drummers such as ?uestlove, Omar Hakim, Zoro, to name a few. Try to figure out what snares they are using in recording or live situations. Try to know more about the drummer, pati sa gears nila. That's one basic way to explore and learn. Being resourceful. Good luck!

Salamat sir. I'll try wooden snares. Anong advantages ng maple vs. birch sir or vice versa?  :?

Maple is warm as mas versatile, birch has more highs at mas direct ang sound, pero you have to listen to them to appreciate them, both are ok naman talaga. :-D parang nike at Adidas lang yan, hehe

Sige... gaganda lang ng snares mo bro!

Ako, I really regret letting go of my Black Panther Walnut 13x6 snare :| discontinued na... sigh...

Quwation, does the starphonic snare really sound like Steve jordan's Vulture snare? (i.e. Really deep and tom-ish) i always thought Wood Snare yun hahaha

Grabe!

Hahaha!! Any SLP G-Bubinga users here?

If you want that sound e get the pearl free floating snare na brass 14x3.5 ata yun yung size
Basta yung smallest depth.😄 Medium tension.😄
Budget wise magkano ba?
