In My Humble Opinion

who wouLd agree?
nope ... those weird virtuoso guitarists take the cake here...
it makes more sense din naman since they are accustomed to notes, frets and strings, so it takes them little practice to learn things like: lyre, mandolin, banjo, bass, cello, and sometimes, harp, piano, keyboard, etc.
the muscle memory in drums is a lot different ... so it would take you awhile to learn stringed instruments as oppossed to something like bongos, congos, etc.
i started out with guitar, and 2 years ago i played bass - the learning was easier.
right now im learning drums and even if i have a drum kit that i messed around with for like more than 10 years, it is VERY hard to play drums... especially the fills. sometimes, it gets tiring figuring them out exactly, i end up making something of my own with the same timing of course *lol*
and lastly, theres a difference between knowing how to "mess around" and knowing how to play. the names you mentioned below, eventhough i havent seen them play other instruments, seemed like guys who know how to "mess around" with guitars, the same way i know how to "mess around" with drums (before i took it seriously)
same analogy sa: iba ang marunong mag drums kumpara sa marunong pumalo ng drums.
