Title: Any Runners in Philmusic?
Post by: gitarakista27 on December 17, 2014, 01:36:22 AM
May thread na ba na pangRunner dito? if so, please delete or merge :)

I started running a year ago. Before I only used to jog for 30 minutes or so then I worked my way up to 16km at a time. Sometimes I log in 39km per week and if I get lucky and have enough time to run, I reach 100km in total per month.
Sino pa mga mahilig tumakbo dito? Share kayo routes, races, tips, and kung ano shoes niyo!

Hey!

Runner since 2012! My first run was Nike We Run MNL. (Dec 2012)
Trained for 2 months Oct-Nov 2012

Nung nasa Manila pa ako, lagi ako sa Filinvest, Alabang tumatakbo, I started running 3k, every other day, hanggang naging 10k every other day, tapos on saturdays, minsan sa Alabang ako, malapit sa office or From Bahay up to Luneta
(Don Galo, Pque ako nakatira)

Kapag sa Alabang ako, minsan, i logged around 15km, after nun, uwi n ako, kapag bahay namin up to luneta, 21k, sakto un, kasi derecho lang ung Macapagal hanggang Luneta galing sa bahay nmin, balikan.

My firsts of the firsts are all in 2013.

Fastest 10k = 1:03 AmCham (Mar)
First 16k = 7-11 (Jan)
First 18k = Philhealth Run (Feb)
First 21k = Run United 1 (Mar)
First 32k = Run United 2 (June)
First 42k = Run United Philippine Marathon (Oct)

My shoes

Nike Lunar glide 2
Asics Gel Equation 6
Asics Trinoosa 8
Saucony Kinvara 5
Saucony A6

Fun runs and around the campus during college days. Now, treadmill. lol

Not into long distance running / marathons. Just trying to stay fit. I'm using this pair of shoes. Love 'em.

i run everyday, but have never participated in anything.

i should... just so i'd have a fun run/marathon shirt like everyone has over at the Acad oval. its like -- "i get it, you guys, you've done this before."

That was my mentality before,

"Hey I finished 42k last blah blah blah.. see that?"

Aminado ako, guilty. Hahaha.

i run twice a week for an hour nalang, i have shoes like gandys (inaantay ko nalang sya masira), except walang water repel. i still run kahit umuulan, sa oval track, no slip.

Who does run in a track here? nakakainis yung mga nag wawarm up sa track mismo, ok pa yung mga naglalakad eh, pero yung mga nag wawarm up saka nag pupush up, uupo sa mismong track pasaway talaga. sarap sagasaan eh.

tried running on track, my shoes respond well as i run. Ang sarap.. parang bread and butter with sugar combination..

But yeah, yan ang nakakainis sa track, ung mga walang modo, thats why i choose the road,

I always run here, and im still overweight.

Started last week running 3 times a week (MWF) at minimum of 5K per run. sa mga nag half marathon, if i keep this sched for maybe at least a month, kakayanin na ba mag half marathon?

Base sa aking pag eensayo at nabasa, you have to run at most of 70% of your preferred distance. sa 21k, you have to run like 14km in one run, (this is for your long run schedule)

Kasi ang pinapractice mo dito, bukod sa breathing, ung heart rate, eh pati rin ung muscles mo sa binti kung anu ang pakiramdam to run with that distance.
They (calves) will  sore in your first 14~15km, but when you run your 2nd 14km, wala na yan.. maning mani, dahil sa tinatawag nilang muscle memory.

Ok yang 3x a week mo na takbo, mag skedule ka ng 1 long run, kung kaya pa ng schedule mo. Pref, saturday morning.

Nice, I'll schedule a 1 long run every week but not necessarily 14K agad haha. cant do sat.  wednesday siguro recover the next day then sa friday 5k lang uli.
sabi minimum of 10 weeks daw ang preparation, with my 3x a week run, i feel i need to extend that? i did run randomly for a month before this and now may target naman for fun. I want that 21k certificate.  :)

I've been killing my knees and calves this whole week,

For 7 Straight days, I ran for 10k.

in my 4th day, my legs are already sore, almost i was dead asleep on my 7th day.

Advice: Just get an ample rest, sleep for 7 hours.

Effects: I can run straight for 10km without stopping, my endurance for hydration is now much better.

Tonight is my final training for my 42k, which is recovery walk.

After that... Sa saturday morning na ung susunod kong takbo, which is 5km~7km para pampatagal ng kaba. then next day, 42km na :)

Update lang, been running 3 to 4 times a week parin, last night was my longest run 15.4K at 1:56:50 sa Acad oval
stopping at 9th K for 30 seconds to re-hydrate then resume to finish that remaining Ks. This is still slow pero I think kaya  na ng under 3 hrs ang 21k.

Current gear:
Saucony Triumph ISO
Nike 4.0 flyknit
Saucony Kinvara 5 (found one locally, most are 6th version)
Sony nwz-w273s
garmin forerunner 15

Keep it going, ive read somewhere on an interview with runners that majority of them achive their best times on their seventh year of running. Speaking of weight, im stuck at 67kgs., i think i could make it to 65 if christmas didnt come, plus i still eat chocolates.hehe

The night is not hot but still  was still ultra humid, trees at the acad oval were like statues, i was staring upward and no leaves were moving. Makes effort twice and felt like i need a third lung :-P
Surprisingly i did better time and better pace compared on windy days. Hehe kala ko siguro i was running slow kasi walang rush ng hangin.

tip:
effective yung gel type deo on preventing chaffing/bruising sa nipples  tried it tonight
It happens to me on runs that are within an hour and or longer with humid weather.

I was there, I clocked 2:28 whereas I expected to finish at about 2:45, the actual course was shorter than 21.097km lol. I did run faster than my regular pace on long runs dahil sa pressure, tama si tipi. hehe I did not enjoy my playlist, di ko alam kung dahil sa pressure o I was busy avoiding and not crashing into the slower runners. The weather was not hot pero as usual it was humid. I felt the IT band pain on my right leg at the start of 12k that I have to walk it a little, pain is coming on and off pero tolerable naman that I was able to keep a good running form again at 16th km. I think na hit ko yung sinasabi nilang "runners high" at 19th km. Few minutes after my finish it rained, it was a gloomy weather, i expected to see the sun rise pero wala. Anyways whatever, it was my first time na sumali sa running event. salamat sa thread na to!

daming chick runners from poveda  :-D
sobrang bagal ko, aba nagka medal pako
1:07:20 yata

^I think mabilis parin yan, fastest 10K ko is 1:06:02 mejo light pako nyan at normal BMI range (mid).  :-D

i want to try 21k sana this year pero, baka abutin ako 3 hours nakakahiya

^ haha mabagal nga, kinompara ko kasi sya sa 21k ko na takbo, kelangan ko i maintain ang average na 7mins per km kundi maburnout  ako ng maaga. sinubukan ko tumakbo recently ng about 6mins per km., hanggang 3k lang kaya ko.  haha parang back to zero ang training.
If may time ka tumakbo sa acad oval, makakapag praktis ka dun, medyo paakyat at pababa yung oval kaso hindi pantay yung kalsada, dun ko nakuha yung IT band pain ko. Ang remedyo is tumakbo in between sa linya ng walkers at daanan ng sasakyan, or i alternate yung runs ng pasalubong sa runners.

Runner’s di ako makakasali sa paparating na RU2, I have the every symptom of a stress fracture. Pain appeared after I started to regularly run at a pace close to 6 min/km for 8-12k last March. Sabi it takes 3-6 months for total recovery. Im taking calcium supplement now. Its been more than a month, since then for 2 weeks I can only do long walks and jog a little.

I’m still aiming that sub2 half . I think the only way to succeed it is to make 5:42/km my natural pace. I can cover pace faster than that for 3k palang, its gruelling, I dont wanna run like that on race day, hehehe syempre I had to make faster than that kasi iinom din ako at points of a race. There’s still lot of fun before going to 21, such as break my 5k record and sub1 a 10k. Its a long journey, I’ll definitely break that 2 hour mark at RU3 (kung papalarin). Kita kita tayo! And BTW weather always sucks, sana matapos na el niño.

Any tips for a 200 pounder, 5'8'' guy who wants to lose weight using this kind of activity? I barely have 10 months para paghandaan ang big day.

i'll give you some [strawberry] tips, mamaya im kinda busy. though i started at 152 lbs also 5-8", im now at 136-138lbs  depending on what and how often i eat/ate. after 600Km plus of mileage since december 2015 eh 17 lbs lang binawas ko. but i think you'll cut more.

May i know man kung may area na you can run in a particular time of the day na accessible? ito ang pinaka importante cause you must run at least 3 times a week. sana sa area where runners run, di lang kung saan saan.

If ever, I'm few kilometers away from QC Circle and UP Diliman. I see runners there.

inclined yung inner lane where runners run, if you ran there counter-clockwise mag su-suffer yung right leg/knee mo that could lead to injury-pero di ka
pa naman mag lo-long run so its ok tu run there din. I do my long run there pero ginagawa ko, alternate every session, kumbaga on other day tatakbo naman ako dun ng clockwise
pasalubong sa traffic and runners para hindi laging yung right leg yung nag su-suffer, yung middle of the road(boundary ng runners and vehicles) mas pantay, dun ako tumatakbo
but i wont recommend it, medyo delikado, it requres higher presence of mind cause you should know when vehicle is coming(from behind), baka matagis ka.
Maganda din sa acad, you could pee everywhere, anytime.

On the other hand, running will not make you lose weight, its still in the diet, the point here is you should develop the love for it (in my experience its the love for struggle and the feeling of freedom), bakit? this activity is intended to replace or alternate with running your other activities
na nakakataba such as sitting all day, watching/eating, spending time on the net, playing videogames and even playing your guitar.
If you want an immediate result heres the thing: No sugar on diet (other than when using gatorade on training), no creamer on coffees, wala ding tsitsirya, di naman mahirap yan, you could still eat rice and your favorite ulam(in moderation)

Before starting to run, may dedicated running shoes ka na ba na nabile? and meron ka bang medical condition? 200 lbs is really heavy man.

Thanks sa heads up about running sa UP. I didn't noticed that.

Thanks sa tip about running and the diet tip.

Running shoes I believe it is. Bought it sa Nike, forgot the model name. But I just chose it by seeing it's a running shoes. No consultations about shoe experts.

Another thing, medical condition ko? I don't know, madalilang ako hingalin paakyat ng bahay. Other than that, wala naman na. Nagpa ear surgery ako last year, August. Don't know yet if it would affect my plans to lose weight. Planning on doing cardio kasi talaga like running/boxing.

I have asked kasi baka mataas ang tendency na ma high blood ka, could be dangerous. If all is well, then tingin ka ng training program for beginners para sa 5k run. It'll take time bago mo makayang tumapos ng 5k  without stopping.

Pag hirap ka, i alternate mo lang ang walking-running like 100 meter run then 25 meter walk, run on feel, dont rush, relax lang, run whenever you feel you could, then stop when it feels hell, ganyang cycle. Never run fast on a downhill muna, could break your bones, specially heavy ka, if you wanna sprint dun sa paakyat na part ng oval.

Before running the usual drill
Dont eat 1-2 hours before running, drink gatorade narin.
Warm up at least 10 mins by walking-jogging combination
Stretching not required.
While on the run it is possible na maagka stomach discomfort ka, ang ginagawa ko bago tumakbo or warm up, kain ako ng isang chooey choco(isa lang)meron sa mga tindahan jan, kung wala pwede na chocnut. purpose? this is to coat your stomach with fat and if not eliminate, will lessen stomach discomfort. Its effective.
Rehydrate, eat.

Yan muna, balitaan moko.
