I was just thinking of actually having a combo amp at the same time that can act as head. Gagamitin ko din as tone basis ko for pedals since mas advisable yung 12 inch speakers for an amp right? I'm planning to make a 1x12 for home use lang and garage jamming.  Can't afford to buy another amp kasi.

Anyway, I don't know kung kaya ba ng 15-watt PF connected to an external 1x12 cab in a garage band setting?

Any other combo amp brand or model with at least 30 watt RMS that can also act as head?  :)

kaya naman siguro kung in terms of volume lang.. better ask r_chino18 here.. never had a long experience with PF eh.. so ang gusto mo, 30 watts na small-sized, portable combo na may external output na magandang tumunog? medj mahirap yan ah.. kasi pwede namang gawin ng PF yung dalawa eh.. di ko lang sure kung masasatisfy ka..

Tried it already. On a side note, kaya rin niya yung ganung band setting kahit walang extension cab. Nakikipagsabaan siya sa Marshall MG50DFX namin dati in terms of volume.

Pero syempre, downside mo lang with any low wattage amp, habang nilalakasan mo volume ay nabibitin ka sa clean headroom. Yes, kaya niya makipagsabayan sa volume against the 50-watter. Pero hirap siya in terms of clean headroom.

Para kang may low watt amp na may malaking speaker na dinadrive mo mabuti yung volume. You'll instantly notice the difference in sound pag may kasabay na siyang mas malaking amp.

Just a quick share. We joined a mini battle of the bands event dati. Amps were a few Marshall MG30 (1x10), etc.. Back then, I brought my own amps, a Peavey Classic 30 and this Vox Pathfinder 15R for a buddy of mine. The PF cut thru the mix and was heard well all over the place. No mic, no extension cab. Sound quality was not the best but it was not bad either. After our turn, we packed our stuff and watched the other bands perform using the provided amps. The MG30 sucked like hell and couldn't even keep up with the drummer.

Waaaahhhhhhhh... I'll be posting my MG30 sa classified ads siguro. Oh well, regrets. If only may PF30R sana....  :-D

PF30? I think that's where the Vox Valve Reactor amps come to play. AC15VR and AC30VR. :-)

I'm not dissing the MG30 ha.. based lang sa experience ko that night, mas maganda overall yung naging dating nung Pathfinder.

Hehehe...  Okay lang. I can also tell actually. I bought the MG30 cause most amps of 30 watt range have 8 inch speakers. 10 inch speaker might be close to 12 inches kaya I bought it and 2 months to pay siya from a friend. Quite a deal na din. Pero PF was one of my choices when I was looking for a bigger amp (pero the drawback was the 8 inch speaker) that time. Peavey bandit/envoy was another. I'm also thinking of the CUB10 of guitarakista sa ad. Review naman chino about the cub.  :-D

There's nothing quite impressive sa MG30 ko. Parang "just an ordinary amp".

Hopefully I can get my hands on the PF and test it out myself.

I haven't been able to read through the lengthy thread, so my apologies if my question has been asked before.

Has anyone done the "LED Mod" whereby two red diodes are desoldered or clipped off?  Supposedly this gives the amp more headroom, and less fizz with the boost on and gain at full.  If so, can you give feedback/confirmation on the mod's effect.

I would rather make it switchable, rather than a permanent mod, tho...

Can't speak much for the Cub, look for the Cub club thread, there's plenty of info there. :)

Marami na ring discussions between PF versus Cub, laging mixed reactions ang binabagsakan... some like it, some don't..

Uy ito ba sir yung sa TDPRI? Parang nabasa ko na ito dati. I was about to do it but had to let go of my PF before I could have ever proceeded.  :-(

^ buzz?

i dont think na sa amp mo yan. could be because of the guitar or cable or sa pedal chain mo.. separate mo muna. try guitar -> amp.. tapos hear kung may buzz. then try mo naman na kasama na sa chain yung pedals mo..

try using another guitar cable or a new one. your cable could be the culprit. or, poor grounding ng bahay niyo.

wait. what's your guitar? with single coils? could be just the 60 cycle hum which is normal to single coils.. also, try using another guitar with your cable and amp. baka sa guitar naman

i'm sure it's not the guitar kasi kahit humbuckers, malakas yung buzz nya.

please heeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!!!!

baka sa guitar mo na yan.. grounded siguro.. i doubt na sa amp yan. i have a Maxon amp made in 1984 and never ko naman naexperience na nagbubuzz yun. oo yung guitar ko may buzz kasi tele and singlecoils.. pero the amp it self is dead silent.

here's what you could check. turn on the amp ng walang nakasaksak na jack.. pag may buzz, amp mo may sira. pag sinaksak mo yung gitara mo tas nagbubuzz, huli na ang cause. guitar mo.. try mo dalhin sa luthier para ipacheck yung electronics.. or ipashield mo na din..

isa pang pwedeng cause, naggigitara ka sa harap ng monitor (CRT monitors or sa laptop) and bukas ang ilaw mo sa kwarto. yes, nakakapagcause yan ng buzz. google mo.. and lastly, baka naman masyado kang malapit sa amp tumugtog.  .

Salamat sa reply sir! You said your amp is dead silent pag walang nakasaksak.. even with gain and volume turned up? ganun ba talaga dapat ang amp? Pasensya if i'm asking stupid questions, i'm practically [gooey brown stuff] when it comes to guitar/amp/hardware knowledge.

Here's a video sample of my pathfinder WIHTOUT ANY CABLES PLUGGED IN. I just want to know your opinion bago ko ipatingin sa audiophile. Thank you for watching!

normal lang yan. as long as hindi sobrang evident na buzz na yung tumutunog pag nagggigitara ka, ok pa ang amp mo.  might as well, ipashield mo ng maayos yung electronics ng gitara mo para maminimize.

A lot of guys from other forums ask for a "bigger" Pathfinder. Solid state, good price, good tone. The Valve Reactor series seem to fit that description, although it's a hybrid amp.

I'm curious as to how different the AC15VR is, compared to the all-tube AC15. Pero if the AC15VR comes close.. then it's a sulit buy.  :-)

I have an AC15VR for sale, pero pabenta lang siya ng kaibigan ko.. Personally, natetempt din ako kunin for myself.
