yes it still has the original tubes if my memory is correct.. the only mod is that the voltage it now takes is 220 instead of 120 (U.S [gooey brown stuff])

the matchless is pretty much just an AC-30 with a 2nd channel.. and the speakers are usually celestion greens paired up with celestion blues.. but hell yeah it's a great amp..

i like the bassman 50.. hard to find even a reissue though..

^^ sounds like a marshall jcm 900 2X12 which has different speakers (i think twas a greenback and a heritage) to give it a unique tone.

is there an amp which has different power tubes? say a pair of EL34s and another pair of 6L6s so you can switch to either through a footswitch or something?

i think the THD's do that..

and the JMP is the model before the JCM's so i reckon they would sound similar.. but in all respects, the JMP would rip a JCM anyday.. ;)

awesome :)

for my taste, yeah, i think the jmp would kill the jcms... but the newer guitarists would prefer the jcms, especially the 800 and 900... gota love slash's and zakk wylde's tone :)

the JCM 800 (from the 80s) are better than the 900s (from the 90s..)

and i've never really liked the 2000 series.. i had the JCM2000 DSL100.. nah.. too nu-metal for my tastes..  :P

of course we know better is subjective but... i think it's kinda unfair to compare the 800 and 900 since the former is single channel and the latter is dual channel :)

i like the jcm2000 for its versatility... i wonder how the mod4 would sound. :)

well yeah but the one channel JCM800 sure beats both channels of the JCM900.. Marshall just made it a dual channel to compete with ze Mesa.. ;)

i don't really think the JCM2000 is that versatile.. it's used mostly for nu-metal from what i've seen..

if it's true (competing with mesa), i didn't know that... i always viewed it just adding more options on the tone that you want, i mean, it's really different when drive your overdriven sound to one channel for clean and dirty as when you have 2 distinct channels for clean and dirty right?

oh well...

i think the nu metal dudes are using the TSL no the DSL most of the time, and of course the mod4...

btw...check this out:

cool eh? :)
