actually... hindi ko na pinansis kung ano camera ang gamit... wala naman ako alam sa ganyan...

pero oo nga pala pano mo nalaman na Canon EOS 30D gamit namin??

Opera gamit kung browser
http://www.opera.com/

pag ni right click mo yung image tas properties lalabas kung anong camera yung ginamit depende kung hindi pa gaanong nagagalaw yung image halimabawa open sa photoshop then copy then paste yung hindi na matrtrace kung anong ginamit ng camera :D

Pwede rin save mo yung image then right click mo then properties then click mo yung summary tab then advance doon lalabas din ang details :D

amm... mukang alam niyo na... urban dub!  8)  i have not yet mastered the art of photography but then i'm trying... kase la pang flash ung slr ku kaya digicam gamit ku sa gigs and concerts.

ung sakin po mga shot lahat ng pix na nakikita nyo lahat un alang flash na gamit.. puro available light lang un....urban dub...astig na banda din un,matagal ko nang hinihintay ung bandang un mag gig sa bicol..

Naka indicate yung camera type sa EXIF info ng JPEG file. Pati kung anong lens ang ginamit.

Don't know what a threadless shirt is, but the Maya photos were from the recent Zildjian Day at the SM Mall of Asia.

I think she's in town for the holdiays - she has one show this dec with her old band (excellent band by the way) the Blue Echoes.

Yup and apart from the stage lighting, it also helps to get up close so you can capture the musician's expression. I get by through using a long lens... a 75-300mm zoom. On the Canon 300D there's a 1.6x crop factor so a 300mm is equivalent to a 480mm lens... :-)

Does that 75-300mm (35mm equivalent) long zoom lens have image stabilization (IS) feature? I am worried about camera shake when shooting handheld at the long telephoto end because I do not have very steady hands. I would like to know the lens' aperture range (wide and telephoto) also.

Tark, I use the el cheapo Canon 75-300 f4.0-5.6 USM III without image stabilization. There is an IS model but I'm too cheap to buy that :-) I also shoot concerts at ISO 1600. I don't know if I'm steadier than most but I can get by shooting at 1/8sec. Maybe I'm a human tripod :-)

He's the percussionist - I forgot his name right now but he also plays percussion for Pinikpikan. This was taken during Mishka Adam's farewell gig at the Music Museum in 2005. Deo Arellano is Mishka's uncle.

Hadn't shot Kat with Sinosikat yet - but I have a few of her with Wally Gonzales' band.
Re: Lighting, I just shoot concert photos at the highest ISO possible (1600 in my case) and stick to that. For stage lighting you really don't have much control, you use whatever the lighting director gives you. In Mishka's case, that concert really had good lighting - taken at the Music Museum. As for being close - actually I was just sitting in the audience, but used a long (75-300mm) zoom.

All the shots were taken with my tiny Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. Except the ff:
The Bouncer shot was taken with a Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens
The old shot of the Wally G band was taken with a Canon 18-55mm EFS lens aka the "kit lens"
The new shot of Kevin Roy was taken with a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS.

Camera body for all was ye olde Canon 300D set at ISO 1600. Really must upgrade soon.

EXIF data for the shot is f/2.8, 1/200 sec, 200mm ... I think I should have stopped down more and shot at a slower speed (that might have been sharper) considering the lens has stabilization.....

Your pics look perfect naman e... The sharpness is just right... And so little noise at 1600! If you shot it with a lower shutter speed at 200mm,  your subjects might blur a bit since they're in constant motion... I read somewhere in some other photo forum that there is an unwritten simple equation that you should follow if you want sharp pics when shooting telephoto...

shutter speed > focal length

But then... it's the timing too that counts...

Makes me want to get a 70-200mm f/2.8VR.... but... arghh!!! 99k is no joke!!!

Dindin please don't remind me how expensive this hobby is - if I spent it on drum gear instead I would have a monster kit buy now!

Last purchase was a 2X Tele-extender for L lenses. So attaching this to the bazooka I now have a maximum focal length of a 400mm f 5.6 lens ... brings out the hidden paparazzi in us all, bwa-hah-hah!  :evil:

^get a lens that has a large aperture. DSLRs have 50 or 85mm prime lenses that have f1.8 or even f1.4 maximum lens opening. the more light your lens can accomodate, the faster it's gonna shoot. the faster, the lesser blur.

or, use a flash.  :-D

+1. it's all about the shutter speed. if you want to freeze the motion you need faster shutter speed. usually in gigs, you'll need a flash or as mentioned by kawal an aperture of 1.8 (at least) since most gigs are VERY low light. oh and high ISO is needed.

for gigs, i'm usually shooting at f1.8, iso 1600. shutter speed varies but i try to get as fast as i can to freeze the motion (unless i do want it to blur).

tuwang tuwa ako nung gabing ito. ang dali kumuha ng pics dahil ang ganda nung lights. para ba naman sa Mtv sessions yung concert, kung di pa maganda yung lights doon, ewan ko na.

ang nakakatawa pa is, inulit nila yung set nila dahil parang na ubusan ata ng tape or something yung camera man.

i use a d40x bro. i'd recommend getting the d80, kesa mag d60 ka. kasi yung d60 ay parang d40/x na pinamahal. hehe..
if you're planning to get into concert photography, get a d80 body and an 85mm f/1.8 lens. if you're planning to start with "all-around" photography, just get the d80 with its kit lens. i you want old-school (ish), get the d80 body and a 50mm f/1.8 lens.

^ bro, as much as possible, minimize the use of flash dahil hassle yan sa ibang mga performers. anyway, mas natural at feel mo yung dating ng live performance kapag kita sa photos mo yung stage lights (at hindi yung flash mo). prime lenses na f/1.4 or f/1.8 ang okey gamitin dahil makukuha mo yung aksyon with less blur or none at all. pwede mong bilisan ang shutter speed mo at wider aperture. sa case ko, i put the aperture sa widest nya para pwede kong bilisan yung shutter. pag-aralan mo rin yung lights ng stage dahil dun ka magde-depend.

yung EXIF nga pala nitong tatlo, naglalaro sa f/4.5-f/5, ISO800, 1/60-1/100 sec.
estimate lang yan. 55-200mm gamit kong lens.

LJ is so last season eh. hehe Flickr i think has better feedback from people, and you can easily share your photos there and get comments without being direct friends/contacts with everyone. :)

nagustuhan ko yung idea nung unang apat - kita ko yung sense ng motion. astig. sana lang mas defined yung lines. pero gusto ko yung mga kuha. pati yung kulay!

i only have d40 hirap maghanap ng lens na ok sa lowlights (compatibility issues)
do u have any lens na pwede i-recommend that will AF sa d40? thanks :mrgreen:

I like the first 4 photos too. I reckon you try staying with a particular style or at least a feel to your photos. Framing and clarity do not always equate good photog. Try to find your own style. That'll pop out in your pics. Not bad, actually. :) Keep it up, man.

dun sa 1st 4 shots kitlens ng D90 ang gamit ko w/c is 18-105mm VR. then the rest 18-200mm sigma na....

NIKON D200 pala ang camera na gamit ko.

oo nga sir. yung 1st style ang mina master ko. mejo mahirap siya hindi gnon kadali tsaka depende sa lightning conditions.

haxo55, i set my camera to shutter speed priority, and these speeds vary depending on lighting condition and movement of the performer. ISO is 800 or 1600.

yung f4-5.6 saken, mahal yung bagong version eh.  :-D
ok naman performance. mabilis ang AF motor nya. medyo mahirap lang ang composition dahil kung gusto mo ng 10mm-warped shots, kailangan mo talagang lumapit sa performer.

haxo55, i set my camera to shutter speed priority, and these speeds vary depending on lighting condition and movement of the performer. ISO is 800 or 1600.

gusto ko din kasi iexplore yung concert photography,
kala ko nung una madali lang siya,
pero nung nasabak na ko, nataranta ko,
noisy pictures, hindi ko macapture yung lightings na nasa isip ko, medyo may mga blurred,
ang hirap pala talaga kumuha ng shots sa mga gig/concerts,

kaya saludo ko sainyo mga sir :D

^lupet nga ng ISO handling sa 1600. eh diba ang D90 kapareho nalang ng sensor ng D300? (i think..) anong speed & aperture mo jan? it seems maganda ang lighting sa gig na yan ah.

jmavendan, ganyan yung isa sa mga gusto kong shots - yung parang naririnig mong kumakanta kahit picture lang. nice capture.  8-)

haxo, check mo yung mga previous posts ko dito sa thread about using shutter speed priority to minimize the chances of getting blurred shots during concerts/gigs.

dantuts, i dont use flash at all. (sayang kasi yung stage lights):-D

yup, same lang. F/2.8 1/800th. Haha. Kayang-kaya mag ISO200 pa. Actually, low budget yung nag-organize niyan. Binawi sa ilaw yung tunog. :P

i know it's wide open coz it's f2.8, pero sobrang bilis ng 1/800 na ss. and if you say na kayang-kaya sa ISO200, then my estimate speed would be 1/125 siguro. that show must have been very well lighted.
seriously bro, if i'd be able to shoot a concert at 1/80 or 1/125 at ISO 800, then i'd always be a happy man. you are lucky to be able to shoot at that speed.
teka, sure kang 1/800? hindi 1/80? :-D

28-80 f2.8 gamit ko nun.. acceptable naman mga shots most of the time.. pero primes pa rin talaga kung kukuha ng ganun ka-sharp at madilim yung venue.. bangis nga mga kuha mo sir eh..

ahhhhh ganun ba sir. sakto din f2.8, actually yan gamit nung kasama ko. problema lang with primes masyadong tight, syempre maganda parin kapag kuha pati mga kabanda dba hehe. "portrait" kasi yung approach kapag prime. salamat sir! hehe. sana nga makapag shoot ako ng may magagandang lights talaga. parang si sir mark terrence sy hehe

im looking for a part-time/hobbyist who is interested in and has had experience taking gig/concert photos (no flash/fast lens able to capture sharp images under low light).

we are conceptualizing several productions within in the metro (north to south) for independent artists and we need someone to do the event.

with pay, of course, somewhere between P1500 - P2000 for 150-200 photos where there will be around 40-50 quality shots in that per event.

Thanks! Actually naka desaturate lahat yan. Pero di ko nakuha yung intended effect kasi yung angle sa harap ng stage Hindi masyado naiilawan yung performers ng colored lights sa likod, so Kahit walang adjustment talagang mukhang multo na sila. Especially sa set ng chvrches, sobrang sparse ng lighting at ang dilim sobra. Yung sa Oh Wonder naman talagang mas chill yung lights. Yung Passion Pit at Stars yung sagana sa lighting pero di ko sila kinunan kasi di naman ako fan hahaha

May mga super desaturated, yung kay Lauren, kasi may mga blue lights na sobrang pangit tingnan, so tinanggal ko yung blue at purple tapos iniwan ko yung yellows and reds.

Very nice man. Pansin ko rin mahilig ka sa single tone(may specific na kulay na mas lamang, dunno the right term for this haha) again nice photos man.

Salamat sir :) Medyo nasa area ng recent shots ni niņa sandejas yung trip ko na style, pero yung sakin mas gusto ko yung selective color na galing sa lights (vs yung faded/pastel ni master niņa). But unlike yung ginagawa dati na naka mask, mas nilalaro ko yung mga sliders. Sobrang advanced na nga ng digital darkroom ngayon na pwede na mag selective color ng  sobrang swabe!

Pero dati ang style ko yung ultra contrasty na abusado yung clarity slider na sobrang nauso :lol:

I can only speak for the 50mm f/1.8

And I can say it's BETTER than the Canon 50mm f/1.8 mk II. Kung Nikon mount siguro patas lang.

Pero kung Canon ang usapan, here's why:
- 7 aperture blades vs 5 sa Canon. Hindi mukhang sabog yung bokeh kasi more or less bilog yung hugis. Di tulad ng sa Canon na pentagon kahit blurred pa.
- metal mount. Kaya sa tingin ko pag sa Nikon patas lang kasi metal mount din sya. Yung Canon na orig, plastic pa rin.
- better optics. Based on tests and reviews on the Internet, the lens is actually faster than the original. Not one full stop, but faster nevertheless. Mas sharp din lang talaga even when wide open. The sweet spot for me is f/2.5, so sa Canon baka isang stop pa ang kailangan.
- more or less same durability. The Canon 50mm mk II is t really durable to start with anyway.

All of that for half the price!

And I can say it's BETTER than the Canon 50mm f/1.8 mk II. Kung Nikon mount siguro patas lang.

Pero kung Canon ang usapan, here's why:
- 7 aperture blades vs 5 sa Canon. Hindi mukhang sabog yung bokeh kasi more or less bilog yung hugis. Di tulad ng sa Canon na pentagon kahit blurred pa.
- metal mount. Kaya sa tingin ko pag sa Nikon patas lang kasi metal mount din sya. Yung Canon na orig, plastic pa rin.
- better optics. Based on tests and reviews on the Internet, the lens is actually faster than the original. Not one full stop, but faster nevertheless. Mas sharp din lang talaga even when wide open. The sweet spot for me is f/2.5, so sa Canon baka isang stop pa ang kailangan.
- more or less same durability. The Canon 50mm mk II is t really durable to start with anyway.

All of that for half the price!
