"Seeking Comfort in our Music...
As what their name implies, listening to Solace’s music is like finding comfort from all the pain that life brings. Their music was made for a purpose: to convey messages of hope and optimism while empathizing, revealing in the many imperfections of human relationships. Solace’s songs leave a lasting impression, not because of the catchy hooks and melodies, nor the groovy bass lines, pulsating guitar riffs and dynamic drum beats, nor moving chord progression and soaring yet soothing vocals but because they touch the heart and soul that makes us human. It’s all about making music that sings and conveys a universal but specific message, a message that people can relate to once they experience their music.
This four-piece band was formed mid-last year, led by CHAD CANARES (singer-songwriter) who has performed with the UK Lily, the premiere New Wave band in Cebu which fronted for many big name acts in the country. SAM CODILLA (lead guitar) had been a part of a band called Roots; while RODNEY VIDANES (bass) and HERSON FREMISTA (drums) had been nominated for NU 107 as “Bassist of the Year” and “Drummer of the Year” respectively for being part of the 2003 Red Horse Muziklaban champion, Fuseboxx.
Solace is a group that specializes in sundry elements of classic rock to alternative rock sensibilities reminiscent from their most enduring influences like Dave Matthews Band, Sting, U2, and Coldplay.
Solace has written 10 brimming poetic and angst filled tracks for their debut album entitled “Never Easy” which is also the carrier single that speaks about dealing with bad relationships you can’t get out of; and the wonderfully sarcastic “Bang” that burst with both verve and compositional brilliance. Other featured songs are “Borrowed Time”, “Healing”, “Ed”, “Dream Maker”, “Radio”, “Bridging The Gap”, “Riding with Angels”, and “Hideaway”.
Solace displays maturity in their songwriting and delivering the message, getting their anguish to the listener without any whining, thus making the album full of emotions and powerfully worded.
The album “Never Easy” is now available in all record bars nationwide released by PARAGON MUSIC CORPORATION and distributed by ABLE MUSIC INTERNATIONAL INC.
