any of those mics would sound good for vocals especially when used with really good pre amps. The Studio Projects B1 is a good budget mic. The people in http://www.studio-central.com/phpbb/index.php like it as a starter mic

There was an experiment done by some English engineers long ago and the consensus is U87 best for males; AKG 414 best for females.  Problem is both mics are rather high end.  My take is what sounds best, i.e., least distortion, least noise, etc. and very natural is what you should use.  Listen with a good set of speakers without eq or outboard.

I personally think the U87 works 95% of the time on both male and female vocals, especially with a very clean solid state pre.   i don't have any experience on the mcs mentioned above bt i would suggest the blue baby bottle which is also a great all-around vocal mic.

Use a Behringer B1, kahit SM58 tapos instantiate the Antares Microphone Modeller VST. Instant U87 hehehehe.

yes AKG C414 is the best for females especially for black females. mas marami "daw" na kanta na naging hit na kinanta ng females na gamit ang AKG C414 kesa sa U87... pero medyo mahal.. 8-)

I used to read about Electrovoice's EV N/D367 which they claim had a frequency response which was specially tailored for the female voice, but this was way back in 2004.
