Ecstasy is one step closer to FDA approval to treat PTSD
« on: December 04, 2016, 09:52:06 AM »
Ecstasy is on a roll to get government approval in treating post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Food and Drug Administration gave permission on Tuesday for large-scale, Phase 3 clinical trials to study whether MDMA, the pure form of the club drug known as ecstasy, can be used on PTSD patients. If these tests prove successful, MDMA could start being prescribed by psychotherapists as soon as 2021, the New York Times reported.

An FDA spokesperson declined to comment on the report, since Federal law and FDA regulations prohibit the agency from disclosing information about drugs that are being developed, or applications for approval that might be pending.
