hmmm dumaan din ako sa GFX-4... parang mas madaming magagawa dun kaysa sa G2.1u. may nagawa pa kong near-Eric Johnson tone patch dun dati e hehe.  i haven't tried using the G2.1u extensively though :)

Aesthetically, mas trip ko GFX4, pero di ko pa naririnig. Mas madali ata interface ng GFX4. Sa G2 kasi kelangan mo magmemorize ng manual para mabilis ka makagawa ng patches.

gfx 4 -> pogi!!    hehe. yeah, the gfx 4 is easier to use, it's got a somewhat analog feel to it, notice the knobs before the footswitches? lets you tweak yer tone like an analog stompbox (reminds me of the boss me-50). sound quality is ok to great on live gigs.

gu2.1 -> what i like about this is you can connect it to a pc, lets you record yer stuff! the sound quality is supposedly improved according to some people i know who have this.

in my opinion, if yer looking for something for gigging, get the gfx 4 - it's tougher than the gu2.1.

yup akin yung ax30g. oo pre, maayos nga ang tunog nya. pero mas matinik parin ang BAMFX stomps, or the lack of stomps, hehe. tapusin mo na yung distoplast mo pre, hehe. para masubukan na, hehe.

I am not sure about the gfx-4 but one of the things I like about my G2 is the real time patch switching, its just like working with stompboxes. I am quite fond of switching between sounds and now with the G2 I get smooth switching, no hang-ups or delays :D The OD on the G2 is the only drive type i liked on the G2. Honestly, I still use a separate stompbox for my distortion/od needs. The Mesa/Boogie Mark 2 sim was the distortion I used on the G2, it seems usable and I'd use it on emergency situations, but something doesn't feel right about it. I like the G2's EQ, its actually straightforward to use. On the best situation its my modulation/EQ system. If I have to use it by itself, no problem, it will do pretty well :D All of these are of course available on the G2.1u which you are inquiring about :)

+1 namida. Yep, ok nga yung switching. Di mo talaga mapapansin yung gap. Trip ko naman na distortion yung Peavey. Ayos siya, IMO.  :D

While taking a break from checking student's papers (gawsh my most hated part of my part time dayjob) I thought I'd breathe life back into this Maxtone Pedal which I had since I was a teenager.

Never liked it much before, sound was too flat (2D) and sharp (masakit sa tenga). So after replacing a pot and cleaning the rest, I decided to apply an asymmetric clip mod and lower the shunt output resistor (the "hard drive" mod). Used a silicon signal diode instead of the Germaniums I used to use.

Good heavens ! I don't know if my ears are tricking me but it sounds better than the DS-1's I've applied the same mods to.  I can almost swear I can hear my rig "breathe" just like what would happen on a large head-cab all tube setup. Albeit less intensity shempre.

Surprisingly, the innards of a Maxtone are electronically superior to a Boss DS-1, featuring 2X JRC 4558's and there's another Toshiba chip here which I still can't read the markings. By contrast, a Tube screamer has only 1 4558, and the DS-1 only 1 in-line OP-Amp.

Now I'm inclined to call out...if you guys have Maxtone pedals that are defective and you want to get rid of, I'll buy them at P500 apiece max depending on cosmetics :D. After all, these things were had for 1K apiece.

I'll post soundclips tonight. Tamang-tama, praktis my miking techniques hehehe.
