Reminds me of that melty looking SX offset on Rondo.
I just don't understand the price tag of the fender swinger :-(

Interestingly enough, Johnny Marr has only picked up Fender offsets when he joined Modest Mouse.  I read somewhere that he regretted not making that change earlier in his music career since the tone that those offsets create matches the one he imagines in his head.

That's interesting...although I never really felt/heard Marr's impact to Modest Mouse...they sounded the same to me. I like his sig Jag, but I dig his Smiths tone too.

I hope Squier listens to the legions of offset fanatics... SQUIER CLASSIC VIBE JAGUAR, JAZZMASTER AND MUSTANG PLEASE. :((((

Sana, malay natin, tingin ko talaga kung may Squier JM JM, malaking possibility na magka Squier JM Jag in the future, o kaya Cobain Squier Jag :)

The closest thing to an on-spec offset that Squier has produced still has to be that J Mascis model.  Ala pa rin akong nakita sa Guitar Center.  Of course, the last time I visited any of their stores was last month.  Malamang meron na rin 'to sa showroom floor nila.

Traded my Mosrite for two guitars. One of them was this. I do not regret the decision at all. It sounds amazing. :|

^all true. I never felt Johnny's distinct tone on Modest Mouse due to the guitar layering of the album. Modest Mouse is already okay with or without Johnny Marr IMHO. Although I really felt his vibe on The Cribs' Ignore the Ignorant. The Smiths music is still his "best sound" IMHO. I separately love Johnny Marr and the Fender Jaguar so the merging of the two is really awesome for me. I love his "contribution" on the Fender Jaguar by altering by having something like a Wronki's tele plate on a jag.

^Squier guitars are usually budget guitars and everyone knows how many added control plates, switches, etc.(added parts, wiring would also entail addt'l cost) on the standard Jag or JM so I feel that it's still really wishful thinking to have a cheaper version for these models in their classic forms. Anyway anything possible as seen on the J Mascis signature Squier Jazzmaster. This is still the best deal for a Squier offset guitar  :)

I just don't understand the price tag of the fender swinger :-(

well the Fender swinger's price tag comes more from it's rarity and since it's a relic - an obsolete design from the 60s. I also see your point when you say that since the design was born out of the need to save costs and recycle unwanted parts from the old Fender factory. It also does not offer any special feature or functionality guitar-wise. It just looks different yet Fender-ish

For your consideration...

Eastwood guitars have a line of some of the more inexpensive offset guitars out there at under $800 a pop.

In all fairness to MM and Marr, I think his relationship with the band isn't in the level of contributing to a composition.  Looks like he was only hired to simply play guitar without much musical input from him (besides the fact that I heard that Isaac Brock can be a pain in the bee-hind to work with).  I think his role in The Cribs was more prominent in the sense that they may have allowed him creative latitude over his guitar parts.

yeah, I heard he was suppose to act as a sort of a producer(+ add'l instrument) first til he became more than that....oh well at least it's over!  :-D

Rjthemute has. His modded Blacktop Jazzy has a Mastery bridge. Couldn't compare since I haven't tried the regular bridge, the Classic Player TOM and the Mastery side-by-side.

I have indeed, although I have no experience with the traditional JM/Jag/stang bridge so can't compare. I got my BT JM with a mastery so I'm spoiled like that. It's a great piece of hardware though, and is extremely solid. I haven't experienced any of the string jumping/saddle rattle/loosening saddle screws that people talk about with traditional bridges. I was also able to intonate with no problems with wound G string.
