When it comes to delays, Analog vs Digital is often pertains to the SOUND of the delay.
Analog - warm & bassy
Digital - trebly & harsh
So which sound do you like?
Now in terms of circuitry:
Analog - shorter delay time, cannot save preset, only 1 delay mode. Some adds a modulation which repeats the signal for a very very short delay time to emulate a chorus sound.
Digital - Longer delay, can save a lot of presets, lots of delay types: ping pong, stereo, tape, modulation, etc and notably; Analog & Digital delay types.
Yes. A digital delay can emulate an analog sounding delay. But an analog delay cannot do digital delay, both circuitry and sound.
So you see the advantage there?
So again, which one do you like?
For me, I would go to the digital delay. Because not only I can do digital sounds, it can also do analog sounds, save presets, tons of delay types and many more.
