you can probably achieve that in Photoshop if you played with Levels and Curves, as well as duped layers :) but who knows maybe the original photo was already like that. lemme try it out.

i'm not sure if i achieved what you wanted to do, but here goes. :-D

in the photo you showed, it was underexposed, with the highlights already washed out. it was also oozing with contrast. so i just played with the levels and curves in photoshop as best i could. but it's definitely possible given the right amount of time and dedication, i guess. :) and if you know what you want to achieve.

click image for higher resolution. photo is one of the pocket hallways in The Venetian Macau, i took it when we stayed there.

subukan nyo yung nilagay kong tutorial.. kaya nyo yan!

Guys when im saving my PPed photo files at binubuksan ko sa nero viewer masyado syang noisy at compressed ang hitsura.
Pero pag binuksan ko sa CS4 ok lang sya.

Will a Spyder solve this problem? Calibrate my monitor?

Thanks in advance.

i'm no expert when it comes to monitor calibration pero i think it has something to do with the application/program that's opening your file.. some don't recognize the color profiles used in your photos (especially pag hindi sRGB yung gamit mo) depende din kasi kung pano irender nung application yung mga pictures..

calibration is i think to make your monitor become "what you see is what you get", provided your application is able to read color profiles correctly and display them accurately..

I find PS soft lalo na pag nag blow up ka ng as big as 2ftX3ft. Gamit ko kasi pang vector is CorelDraw X3 & Illustrator CS2. Yun kasi puwede kong palakihin yung design kahit 10ftx10ft or even larger without degrading sharpness & quality. Pang edit ko lang ng mga pictures ang photoshop.
Here's the one I made about 4 years ago sa CorelDraw.

Yep! I used corel a long time ago.. tsaka about illustrator naman eh di talaga ako comfortable gamitin yun, feeling ko ambagal ko.. anyways tama ka, yung "softness" ng photoshop din kasi ang hanap ko.. tsaka kuntrolado ko lahat ng outlines at nagagamit ko rin yung ilang filters.

I agree na mas mako-control mo ang depth at size ng vector mo when you use corel draw or illustrator, madaling madali nalang yun when you need to print that vector art on a lets say 5x10ft tarpauline banner.

pag ganun naman ang kailangan kong gawin I do it using Flash.. then export it.  :-D

anyways di ako makatulog kagabi so I made another vector of myself.. hanggang sa antukin ako (kaya mejo less ang details)

Tutorial naman sir!! hehe

I used 3 application here sir

Photoshop CS4
Lightroom 2
Photomatix

a. you can make use of 1 photo only. kahit hindi RAW. Open it in photoshop then use the exposure tool to render 3 different exposure (ie. +1 , 0 , -1)
b. open the 3 images in photomatix to render HDR effect. (Leveling of the saturation, highlights etc. may differ depending ong the Lighting of the picture) so trial n error lang po tyo
c. Save the image from photomatix a nd open it in Lightroom for enhancement.

It tool me 12 - 17 mins to edit a single image but it's all worth it. You can have it printed and sell it as a painting as per request. :) may nagpagawa na kasi sa kn ng ganito and it do really paid off!
