MANILA, Philippines – Data from the Statistics Portal show that in 2015, there were 21.77 million smartphone users in the Philippines at the time when the population was at 101.7 million. In 2018, the Philippine population rose to 106.5 million and the number of smartphone users rose to 34.44 million.

Considering the many uses of the smartphone as well as other gadgets like tablets and laptops in the classroom, it is not surprising that many students these days are using gadgets in and out of the classroom.

But parents beware! Recent studies have shown that the use of gadgets in the classroom can actually lead to failing grades.
