Title: Megajam- Postponed na talaga.

Okay. If I don't kick this off, it will be too late. I hope I can rally your support and put together a Megajam "Kitakits" event.

I'll lay the concept out here, let's toss it around until something concrete forms.

What : Megajam
Where: Paco Catholic School (Manila) Covered Quadrangle
When : 7pm-3am, November 18-19, 2006
What up : Long concert, 20-30 bands, 4 song set apiece.

We'll need sponsors if that's possible. Takes very little to pull this off, only about P20k.

By the way, no sex and drugs, just rock and roll. And some booze.

Okay guys, start tossing ! Comments on the date, place etc are welcome.

Edit update : Me anticipated Mass ngapala ng 6-7, so we can't start at 4. Can't have a rock concert while Mass is being said :D

Edit update #2 - changed the working title to "Megajam" pending suggestions. I remembered that it's not proper to use "philmusic" or imply endorsement without the formal blessing of Pinoymusika. :D :D

Teka...while we're at it, let's start the band listing.

Guys, this can be pulled off. We have the resources and connections, the only variables would be how "bongga" the event will eventually be. If we have sponsors, then we can afford to rent some Pearl drums and large Marshalls and pro sound reinforcement and lighting. If not, we will just pool together instruments and amps and it will be a musical "get together", sitting on the floor. How it eventually turns out depends on the actual resources we can muster for the event. Lets see...its one month away. Lots of time.

But let's start the band listing. I reckon my band will be gig-ready by that time (given the breakneck pace that we've set our rehearsal schedules). So I'll start the ball rolling with that. As is tradition, copy, add your band's name and paste. :D

Ey guys ! The thread is not "yet" an announcement, it's a "Request for Comments" document to validate kung okay sa inyo ang date, concept, time and if evern sino ang tutugtog.  :D. After all, it's "our" event di ba ?

I guess then with the show of support, so far so good. No dissenting opinions anyone ?

- is it easy to commute or drive/park there in paco catholic? pag madaling araw na dyan safe pa ba sa area, especially those commuting? ano pa other options sa venue?  dito ba sa UP wala tayong makukuhang venue? accessible naman ito sa mga taga South via C5 or MRT eh.
- how will the final band lineup be determined if there are more than 30 who sign up?
- we should determine a sequencing and stick to the sked para walang masasabi audience or bands. may posting/bulletin board dapat nung lineup and sked at the holding area/backstage.
- i suggest i-set na lang sa 30 or 35 mins each set (incl. set up time)... bahala na ang bands if they want to play 10 short songs or 'dazed and confused'.

Great points.

Okay this is the transparent truth of the matter. I'm throwing in my Paco Catholic School Alumni Batch into this fray. It will be structured as a fund raiser for our outreach programs, but not on the ticket side. I don't think productions really make any money on tickets, with the bands having free entry and all :D.

That explains the venue, which we can be had very cheaply or even for free if the Alumni organizes it.

Next, I get more hands and hearts working on the event and might even get discounts on the PA systems to be used. Not to mention all the other resources that will be made available to the alumni group (tables and chairs, credit lines, more connections etc).

As for the Venue itself, it is centrally located so it is quite equidistant from guys in the south and guys up north. The area around the church provides a large, fenced-off and guarded parking space. There is a built-in stage in the venue, typical of most school quadrangles :D

It's safe to commute to and from as the area is practically populated at all hours because of Paco Market. There is a police outpost almost right in front of the school. One jeepney ride gets you to Makati, Sta Ana, Taft Avenue or Nagtahan (and rides are available 24 hours).

So yeah, its a great concept I believe. Fusing the interests of my alumni group and this group provides for great synergy. Putting 2 and 2 together so to speak. And hopefully we make some money to continue our community outreach programs. Last year the alumni group sent out grocery bags to the underpriviledged sections of the community. This year, we're contemplating on sending one underpriviledged child, or two, to school, at least for a year. Small...but we do what we can. Some of the proceeds will be saved for future expenses. Again, we don't expect to make money on the ticket sales. At best, money from that will only cover expenses on rented stuff. Funds will come from Beer and Fishballs sales. Yeah I sh it you not. I think other foodstuffs will be made available but that is the topic of my meeting tonight with them.

So there guys. :D. Buti na yung alam nyo yung buong kwento. :D.

I think we can do this about...every other month. :D

As for the bands, let's see na lang what happens when everyone has signified their interest. 20 bands, fully manageable. 30 bands and just maybe I'll be in an oh-sh it situation ehehehe :D

Okay. In fairness, we're just waiting for the formal approval of the Director of PCS. But November 18, the date per se, is available.

After this, logistics na lang ang pro-problemahin...saka internal and external security.

BTW, guest tickets, P100 with 1 beer. Playing bands of course free. Pambalik lang sa pinambayad sa PA and venue :D.

Ganito pala ang mag-production :D

sir, may committee ka ba for this? or ikaw lang lahat? since this is a big event, you might want to have a team for this. parang "bam's little helpers". i'm sure madami dito ang mag volunteer. puwede ba videocast or podcast? may kilala ako na puwede mag share ng web space... hehehe. maganda sana if may lcd rin tayo para ma flash yun band name, members, title ng songs, at kung ano ano pa...  :-D

My PCS alumni buddies are pitching in. But any help would be appreciated. I have a video cam here that needs manning. :D

There will be amps provided in the place...and a drum kit. The usual lang, parang punta sa bar na me band equipment na...just bring your own guitar, bass or cymbals.

The amps are small, but will be miked into the PA s no problem.

Bugger. Got bumped off by a Boyscout camping activity that goes from Friday to Sunday. School activities take first priority. Kainis...reserved na yung date e.  :?

Guys...like I said in an earlier post, Paco Catholic School bumped off our reservation in favor of a Boy Scout camping on the quadrangle grounds for November 17-19.

Bad trip...although this is not the first time our alumni association has been bumped off from a set date. I should have seen this coming.

With heavy heart, I have to report that all alternative plans have failed. All bars big enough and all covered courts in Makati are all but booked.

The only alternative venue for November 18 is the Ampitheatre of the Makati Sports Complex.

Unfortunately, it is an open air venue. It's a risk if it rains...both for the audience and for the equipment.

If you want to go on, I can just place a down on Anna's bar in Makati. Small (about the size of Mayrics), pero we can get together. Date for this will be November 17, Friday.

Please let me know if the date and place are still ok with you guys. Pag duon, sige...no ticket ! Sagot ko na yung hinihingi ng bar :D

I need at least 5 bands to confirm...para lang sigurado hindi masayang ang gabi. The rest, punta na lang kayo at maglabo-labo na lang tayo dun :D.

Sorry guys talaga.

In the time it took to consult you guys kung okay sa inyo ang date and place, the slot for November 17 was taken.

I'm out of aces now as far as venues are concerned. I guess only one conclusion for now, for those dates at least...it was not meant to be.

Let's just wait then for November 28 to see each other again, and I'll cross my fingers for the next stab at a Megajam.

By the way, sometime next year is Philmusic's 10th year anniversary. It would be great if we can pool together na talaga and say "Hail to the Chief" and thank you. Siguro by that time, it will be bigger, better equipped and with a long preparation.

Sorry po talaga. Not meant to be. For now.

    Ok lang yun Jobet! Hey, thanks for even trying. No meant to be talaga for now. Ok lang. At least, we are going to have more time(prepration, venue, announcement, sponsors, etc.) for the mega jam. Hopefully, by next year-matuloy na talaga.

   Hope we can see each other sa Nov. 28--hope to see my  DF2 na rin!

nakakapang hinayang naman...nuod sana ako...exciting pa naman yung pag paplano na nakikita ko dito...dama ko eh! pero atleast ngayon,mas mahaba na yung preparation time para sa lahat...and sana by next year,maka buo narin ako ng banda para makasali kami sa matinding megajam! Godspeed! :-)
