-
My thoughts.
You get what you pay for.
If your budget is tight and you eye for Tagima, go for it. It doesn't matter. No one will judge you about your purchase. Just remind yourself that this guitar needs some more work so that it will perform well.
But if you can stretch your budget, go for MIJ Fenders. The build quality is topnotch and most probably, no need for setup.
Same thoughts about SX. SX have some tuning issues AFAIK. Not only the frets are not leveled properly but also the tuning machines are not stable.

compared to other lower tier, budget friendly guitars. sulit na yan lalo na kung galing sa gp(they setup the guitars for free, afaik).

+1. handselected na usually yung mga units. they wont sell something that isn't playable as it will ruin their rep.
isa pa, the TAGIMAs I tested in GP alongside psychic_sushi were really great guitars. mejo nagas nga ako dun sa surf green eh. hahahaha

Hahaha. Go for it!

Just upping this thread as Im thinking of getting one and I have a few questions for those who owns or owned one.
1. How does it sound on stock parts?
2. Did you have any issues? (like parts, the wood, electronics or the overall built).
3. Is it better than a bnew Squire or other strats of the same price range?
4. What upgrades have you done and how much did it improve the sound?
Thanks sa mga sasagot.

my personal answers to your questions above, based on intensive testing instances.
1. How does it sound on stock parts?
pretty good. the strat shaped guitar will sound like a strat. and tele, a tele.
on a strat benchmark, for me, its on the borderline, good sounding. kinda like a Squier CV.
2. Did you have any issues? (like parts, the wood, electronics or the overall built).
the ones I have tried, no issues so far. if you're getting from GP, they make sure that what they sell do not have issues. so, buy with confidence.
3. Is it better than a bnew Squire or other strats of the same price range?
For me, it is way better than the guitars in its range. i.e. Sx, Fernando, MIC Tokais, MIC Bullet/Vintage Modified Squiers. I would say, a ballpark comparison would be the Squier Classic Vibe. you definitely feel that premium, but still, not quite a fender.
4. What upgrades have you done and how much did it improve the sound?
all of the TAGIMA's I've tried were stock, but with any guitar, I would have the nut replaced immediately with a Graphtech nut and better caps and pots.
pickup replacements will vary per user. what sounds good for me might not sound good for you.
at the end of the day, I believe, Tone is in the Amp :)

^ Gracias! Now I need funds and Tagima it is.

sure ball haha
go for tagima...people at GP are great and very accomodating...set ka lang appointment sa kanila
-
Ok yung Tagima. Kung hindi ka satisfied sa tunog ng stock specs, you can always mod it. :)

Totoo yan.
Back to the topic..
Kaso not sure if may rosewood fretboard ang strat nila...

Tagal mo na pala nakuha yun! Tagal ko kasi di nag Philmusic now lang ulit. Anyway, I got the SX (Essex) sunburst strat. I don't know kung ano ang iba dito pero eto pinaka best sounding strat na nagkaroon ako kaya kinuha ko din agad. Got it for a very low price naman so worth it din hehe.
BTT:
Sorry for threadjacking!

Hi TS, you still have this strat? how's the guitar after almost 3 years? I have read good things about it, especially if getting one from GP. Now I'd like to check how it has been for you in terms of longevity? :)
