Your Controller/Synthesizer Setup
« on: September 27, 2012, 08:29:30 PM »
Interested with the setup of other controllerists/synthesists here in philmusic, currently here's mine:

Mejo ghetto as I only have 1 non-software-driven synth, but works for me so far.

here's my current controller to software mapping:

mpd18 -> hydrogen
m-audio keystation -> zynAddSubFX
numark mixtrack -> mixxx
nanopad -> mixxx [que points]

sound routing:
software -> xenyx302usb -> out
kaossilator -> xenyx302usb -> out
software[hydrogen] -> generic usb soundcard encore 7.1 audio box -> pocketpod -> xenyx302usb -> out

using jack (jack audio connection kit) as sound governor from software to xenyx302 and ins, also does the mapping of the midi controllers to the corresponding softwares.

nice setup Rudie, thanks man, im into experimental stuff as well, and lately to chill/dub stuff.. check mo din my soundcloud projects sa sig ko..

just wondering, how many minutes does it take you to setup eg: sa practice and gig? I usually bring my own table, trying hard to do a 5 min. setup/setdown kasama pati prep ng software, but struggling, nasa 8-10 minutes ako to get everything ready :)

ano ung mixer mo sa 2nd pic? is it USB? sya na ba ung mismong sound card/device mo?

yung set-up sa pic is for jam session, experimentation & sound explorations

sa recording nakainput kung ano ang irerecord na instrument sa roland tri-capture (audio interface > desktop), isa isa pa din per track, maschine mikro for making drum tracks/synth parts/samplers, we mix hardware, software, analog/vintage & digital machines + organic instruments pa din (guitar/bass/percs), ayun ganun lang kasaya ser :)

yung mixers for real-time dubbing ng vocals/instruments + reverb and delay pedals

output? http://soundcloud.com/royalsouthsoundsystem

nice nice, thanks for the inputs man..

by the way i took your advice and got the encore audio box yesterday:

http://goo.gl/z2TKW

really pleased, im using it now as my secondary soundcard, xenyx302usb still being my primary sound device which couples as mixer na din..

i now use it as an out for my duplicated bus para malagayn pa hardware effects bago ko i chain back sa main mix..

update kita within the weekend dun sa collab track man! have a great weekend and thanks for the help man.

nice setup man, pareho kayo naka maschine ha, a bit intrigued with it and the construction of the hardware looks awesome. I might get one soon and use it as a midi controller, i'll have to repurpose and do my custom mappings to my software though since linux ang setup ko and it sucks because there aren't any native versions of the corresponding software from NI..  :cry:

thanks for the inputs man..

..by the way this is my setup when in "dj" mode..

(live rec of one of the tracks from my alternate proj)

in this arrangement, ready na lahat ang samples and iju-juggle ko na lang.. it is cleaner this way (and less stressful), but then again doing glitches/experimental is another thing, mas technical and mas madaming knobs/sliders/pads to mess with to produce the intended sounds..

thanks chief, yep i needed to open it pa and un-stick the sensors.. bad quality talaga yung 1st gen ng nanopads, so far yan pinaka cheap kong gamit and isa sa mga importante :)
