Title: Tony Velarde Appreciation Night(Please read)
Post by: sandythedrummer on August 21, 2007, 05:34:07 PM: Mr. Tony Velarde the so called "Steve Gadd" of the Philippines is here in the country for a vacation after 13 in Canada. He's the Drummer of the group called "Jazz Friends". Mar Dizon told me last night that he remember himself in awe watching Tony Velarde in Jazz gigs when he was still in high school. So together with Glenn (Tony's son) they're planning for a night to honor Tony. It will be on September 2 Sunday in 19th East at 7pm. Entrance is free of charge. The night will feature Akasha with some Horn Section and some of our Senyors in the Philippine Music scene. Please pass the message! This is a piece of history in the making.

Tas madimi reng mga LOLO na pumalo then they played Tony's Live performance from CCP 1972 grabe chong parang si Tony Willaims IHMO! I wonder why they called him "Steve Gadd" of the Philipines?Mas Bata kasi Gadd kay Tony diba? Sana Kung mababasa ni GLENN to sana i reproduce naten mga recordings tatay mo!!

To all Filipino drummers, we owe Mr. Velarde a lot! Sha ang nag iisang link naten kaya may mga Mar Dizon, Jun Regalado and Ricky Posadas. Na pinasa naman kela Bagets, Ernie, Nino, na pinasa naman kela Rikson, Vic, Otep, Franklin at sating mga susunod na henerasyon. Salamat!!!

Tsk tsk tsk kailangan nang mag palit ng salamin! Anyway pare message me lang kung completo na yan para mano manong reproduction na lang. Ikalat naten yan!
