Mapex p980fa Double peds?

MAPEX is a name brand so you really can't go wrong, pero I see a single chain pedal under that model. Tama ba?

Anyway, my favorite cheap and durable hardware brand are Gibraltars. You could check them out as well.

Para sa mga interesado.

I recently bought a Mapex P980 pedal because currently, that's the only pro grade double pedal I can afford dahil sobrang mahal ng gamit dito sa UK. (Double pedal Iron Cobra @ 290 Sterling Pounds x 96 Pesos!) Ito nabili ko for 150 pounds on sale at tinawaran ko pa sa mga tisoy.

Here are the pics:

Una kong napansin tong lagayan ng drum key sa ilalim ng master pedal. Good idea pero di naman masyadong snug fit ang drum key sa holder. Pero Still Ok pa rin since it still does it's job.

I like the lenght of the foot board of this pedal. Just about the right size for me (size 9 US) It's about 9inches from the hinge to tip. As you can see nilagyan ko ng 6inch na ruler sa ibabaw.

Next up, yung width ng foot board. Malapad din. It's about 1 1/2" wider than the standard mapex single pedals. This one is 3.5 inches wide! :)

Beaters. Ayos din. Triple sided sya for different sounds. Felt, Wood & Plastic. The beaters are very solid and the mass is medium-heavy. Kaso nga lang, hindi adjustable ang angle ng beater heads like iron cobras. Personally, I'd still like the beaters of Iron Cobra.

Isa sa mga notable features nito para sakin ay itong bearing locks sa spring adjustment. (kita nyo ba?) It lock and clicks each time you turn the nut half way. It prevents the Nut of the spring from loosening. Ever experienced natanggalan ng Nut sa spring habang tumutugtog? if so. You know what I mean. :)

Other features are the standards na. Memory locks for the beaters... Heavy duty construction... Extra large connecting rods... spike stopper, rubber padded base plate.... Double chain... etc... Check out more pics

All in all. An excellent pedal for the value of money. Excellent Construction and materials.

Cons: No pedal bag/case included.

Mike Portnoy used to be a DW pedal endorser during the early 90's, in particular during the Awake album era.  He played and endorsed Mapex drums during that time.  And also during that time, Mapex wasn't manufacturing yet drum pedals which can match up with the leading high-end brands and models.

By the way, great review and pics, Johann!  I like the beater design.

check this out http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Janus-Ergo-Transmission-HiHat-System-Pedal?sku=448868

ang kulet ng nakaisip niyan eheheh

the idea is cool, almost bought one last year but found out that it limits your "left foot technique". cant do side to side hihat heel splashes because doing so will engage the double bass mode. another down side is that you cant play your hihat at the same time with the left foot bass which i also normally do

Wow thats really great news! Though wala na ako sa Manila, that's still great news to all of my kapwa pinoy drummers! Hopefully affordable din and price like here in UK. One of the most affordable and reliable drumkits ang Mapex dito. I'm using Mapex p980 twin pedals. Solid! :) and a 10"black panther stainless steel snare. Lovely and tight. :) No comlaints! Pinoy drummers, go for it! :)
