I just recenlty bought a Canon 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS lens, I like it more than my kit lens right now. I'd also like a 50mm 1.4 lens. :-)

Favorite ko yung Tamron 28-75 F/2.8. Why? That's the only lens I have.  :-)

i guess it depends on a lot of factors, but for me, here are my favorite nikkors:

for general walk-around lens: 24-70 f/2.8 because of it's sharpness and it's range

for wide-angled shots: 10-24 f/3.5-4.5 because that's the widest i have.. though i would LOVE to have a tokina 11-16 f/2.8 (the only bad thing i've read about this lens is it's usually out of stock)

for portrait shots: 85 f/1.4 for it's sharpness and speed (f/1.4!)

Im loving the nikkor 50 1.4 tsaka 18-70 zoom.

The 50 is fast and the zoom is pretty versatile in daytime.

I just started like a month ago, I have an 18-55 kit (decent...cheap)and a 50mm F1.8 prime (sharp..cheap). I use both a lot, but prefer to have a lens instead of 2 that can do both or more. I was just at a photo shoot in a gun range and realize I need to get a zoom lens.(55-250 F4-5.6 IS... cheap). I guess I just stick to buying cheap and decent glass right now since I am still learning and maybe if I do get better and serious at it...I'll get better gear. (like a 7D or even Mark II and some L lenses)

Interested in getting that strobist lighting kit too ...setup a mini studio at home..... never ending gastos...just like the my other hobby .....haaay.   :-P

i once had a canon 450d and 18-55mm kit lens... and was able to get decent pictures... now i'm using a nikon body and have 2 tokina lenses...

did some research, read a lot of reviews, and decided to get TOKINA over sigma and tamron... (found out also that Tokina engineers were previously Nikon employees)

a Canon 70 200 2.8 will definitely be better than a Tokina 50-135 2.8.... but if you are in a tight budget, i'd go for a Tokina any day... some will go for a Tamron or a Sigma...

at the end of the day, what will matter is the picture you took... that's where everything comes in... creativity, correct exposure, composition, framing, etc...

i'd get Nikkor lenses if i have the money....

here is my first dslr shot 450d and 18-55mm
